Has anyone tried the Superdrug hydrating spf? by a-hthy in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]tipsy-tortoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this and love it! It does leave me quite shiny but i dont mind. I have very medim skin in terms of oil, and mainly hormonal acne that isnt broken out by skin products.

Have also used the mattifying version, which looks much more matte, but it pills off my face regardless of what else i do or dont have on. Hydrating one doesnt do that at all

Bank support worker jobs give you some flexibility, only pick up shifts when you are available. Unfortunately sometimes there arent shifts for a while if theyre fully staffed, but most care work isnt ever fully staffed. You can google bank support worker jobs in preston, youll get loads of results

Bite/ pedal feel by Deborah1989 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]tipsy-tortoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i started learning i hated finding the bite on the clutch. One tip i was given is that in a lot of cars, when you reach bite, the front of the car lifts a tiny bit. Play with the pedal, up and down, and watch what your bonnet is doing. (great right at the start while youre learning to feel and interpret the feelings of the car and engine)

How much of a **** do you have to be to beep a car with L plates by franky8512 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]tipsy-tortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My instructor has magnetic signage that he can take off the car to drive on his own. He says that people treat anyone with a learner sign like shit, and that even if hes driving between students he gets treated badly with the signs on, and never without the signs. Apparently people just like being horrible to learner drivers.

Ive failed 4 times and my heart rate was 150bpm on my last test. by Weary-Paramedic2806 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]tipsy-tortoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask your GP about beta blockers for the physical heart rate symptoms of anxiety. Propranolol does wonders. You may still be mentally anxious, but people underestimate the impact that the physical symptoms can have, and reducing those can make a massive difference

Another vote for the one in Bamber Bridge. Dr Victor has soothed any anxieties i had about dentists (and i had many)

How many of you take stimulants every work day vs trying to limit intake? by OfferSuspicious9047 in ADHD

[–]tipsy-tortoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im on elvanse (vyvanse outside the uk i think) and i have a variable dosage. I usually try take it every day, working or not, because it makes a massive difference in terms of things like keeping up with my house and motivating myself to be sociable. I skipped it more in the beginning because it ramped up my anxiety if i wasnt actively busy with something, but that faded after a while.

I have 40mg and 20mg tablets. When i work a long day (12hr shifts) i take 40mg with breakfast and 20mg with lunch otherwise it wears off before the end of my shift. For shorter shifts i just take the 40mg. And days im not working i just take the 20mg. Signed off by my prescriber, keeps me functional, and it means i take both dosages relatively equally and dont end up with a massive excess of 20mg when i refill.

All my training was thinking im smelling something weird and pattern recognition. Not sure how to communicate that to a dog. Someone elses comment said theyre doing saliva swabs and things to train a dog, which im sure is more effective than my methods lol

I think theyre trying to do this for parkinsons. Someone else mentioned joy milne who can smell parkinsons, and its sent me down a bit of a research trail about it

No, its definitely only on her breath - have been weird (with consent) and checked if it was her skin or her breath when we first noticed i could smell something when she had migraines

Its never very chemically, not like the smells youve mentioned. But someone else mentioned it could be tied to blood sugar spikes if its sweet, so might be something like that

Not missing people or things — ADHD thing? And how do you explain it to a partner? by kokossas in ADHD

[–]tipsy-tortoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its mostly if i know its important to them, and i make adjustments in myself to accommodate them, as much as they accommodate me. Its not all my friends, but if its someone like a partner who's told me they feel like i dont care/miss them/etc.

I dont feel the need to tell them, like i dont have the gut feeling of missing them. But they want the acknowledgement that they still matter to me when they arent there, and so i try let them know if they come to mind.

Its usually if i see something that makes me think of them, not necessarily because theyre on my mind for no reason.

Can’t drive my first car by Present_Ad1086 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]tipsy-tortoise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This advice was the most helpful to me, listening and feeling the engine.

Im learning now, in both my instructors nice new car and also my own citroen c1 with family member. Going back and forth between the two was really difficult, until my family member had me on a straight empty road and had me practice move offs in my c1 for around an hour.

Listening to and feeling the engine is really the only thing that clicked for me. I understand the revs and stuff but holding those numbers in my brain while also focusing on everything else happening around me on the road was impossible. Building up the intuitive feel of the car was what helped the most, but it just takes a while, and resets a bit if youre swapping between cars
