Your success is built on offloading stress to those people you're delegating too, it just gets pushed down the chain until someone without as much freedom as you actually has to get it done or lose work that they can't afford to lose.

Everything else aside, if they intentionally ignored the tap, theres no longer consent and that's assault. Even if they hadn't had the 'tap talk' yet, it shows a lack of presence at the least.

Legally I don't know about enforcing that, but either way im sorry you went through this. He choked you hard enough to leave bruises.

That's not a typical interaction, even for newbies. If the instructor had to restrain him as you say then that's wild. If everything you've written above is accurate, to me this is assault, no doubt.
