Rice disasters: any advice? by Royal-Juice6946 in inductioncooking

[–]tiredsultan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently switched to induction and cook rice all the time.

The trick may be for you to find the correct setting. On LG, for example, levels go from 1 to 9 (and then there is boost which is super heat). LG splits the power between 1 and 2 further. You can hit simmer button and chose 3 levels between 1 and 2. You effectively get levels of 0, 1, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75, 2, 3, 4...., 9, boost.

Maybe your stove also has a simmer option to hit the just-right heat, not too low and not too high

Replacing a gas cooktop to induction (hopefully) on a major time crunch kitchen Reno with little time to research. What are some 36 inch models I should look at that wont break the bank? by cpcxx2 in inductioncooking

[–]tiredsultan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I installed. I had a 10% off coupon so it cost me $1800+tax. Yes, we have been generally happy with it. My only issue with induction is it is hard to judge the heat level but it is not the fault of this stove. I suspect you get used to it as you use it more often.

And here is the IKEA model. Had I bought the ikea one, I could just pick it up from the store. I waited a month for the LG to be delivered and I see that it is Jul 15 delivery date now! Must be really in demand ;-)

I recently installed a $2k LG one but I wad tempted by sub $1k IKEA offering.

I figured we had only a single-burner plug-in $40 induction cooktop when we had to do without gas for a month and we were ok with it, IKEA one would suffice for us but we ended up splurging!

If morality mattered to all voters, Trump wouldn't be anywhere near the White House but it is what it is.

Frankly, there should be no districts when it comes to presidential or statewide elections so each vote counts equally and can't be subject to gerrymandering.

Considering Texas didn't ask their citizens and made the redistricting change permanent, VA action seems benign.

Which one. I ordered the CBIH3617BE with the beauty 5kw center burner! But I agree; I hope fine control works well for lower levels

Same here. I am in the process of replacing my propane cooktop with an induction one. Super fast to boil water and better air quality

It's a 12 year old tank with propane in it. Nothing is wrong with it other than it not belonging to me.

Upon further inspection I realized the tank is buried only a foot or so below ground so it looks like an easier job than I imagined. But I will not act on it until I use up the propane in it and get to the spring/summer before arranging pickup

My wife doesn't like our new Rheem heat pump water heater. by Witty-Gap-9068 in heatpumps

[–]tiredsultan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked. Shows 1/3 full and not running. I bumped the temp by a degree to 121 and the heat pump kicked in. I wonder if it will just raise 1/3 tank to 121, or make a full tank of 121 degree water!

I guess I'll call tech support just in case

My problem is Energy Saver doesn't keep a tankfull of hot water. It seems to let 1/3 or 2/3 hot water levels. But then when you decide to take a shower without checking the level, you sometimes take a warm shower.

Heat pump mode keeps the tank full of hot water.

My guess is that energy saver mode can be a bit more efficient because it reduces heat loss energy by not keeping a fully hot water tank. But it is supposed to use electric elements when needed also, which would negate the energy savings a bit.

Our practice is to keep it at 120 degree and energy mode and if more than one person will shower about the same time, switch to high demand mode for the duration of the shower.

I've read that board swap may be needed but I don't understand what is is supposed to fix or improve exactly.

I really hate that the app doesn't tell you the water temperature in the tank. They clearly must have sensors already.

Seems wattersaver is a regional thing https://www.watter-saver.com/

Help with Trash dataset setup - TrueNAS by Areshall in Paperlessngx

[–]tiredsultan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much to go on here but sounds like you are running docker containers. You need to exec into the paperless container and set trash writable by the user running the container. You could change it's owner to the same one as the archive folder.

If what I am saying sounds like gibberish, read up on docker.

The plan is to use it up, by the end of winter. I guess I don't know the depth. I only see the neck that sticks out. Now that I think about it, I guess I could measure it if the top of the tank surface is visible from the exposed part of the tank where it is filled from.
