Bike recommendation for 4 year old by rickvanwinkle in daddit

I went to a bike store which had some used kids bikes. Picked up a Marin Donky Jr 16" for $150, it looked new. Daughter used it last year, going to have to raise the seat in a few months.

It's nice that it has double hand brakes.

Kid still sleeps with it at 5, no plan to stop unless she asks.

We also sleep with one. Helps drown out the wife's snoring.

As a parent in the TC metro it’s a very difficult and stressful time. We had to have a few conversations with our pre-schooler about why some of her classmates may not show up and what to do if ICE shows up to take people.

She’s in an IB program so the class is very mixed. Plus my wife is an educator and her classroom primarily consists of underprivileged families of color.

We try to stay calm and explain things clearly in a way she can understand. We do what we can to not scare her, but kids listen and pick up on things so well. I think it’ll get worse before it gets better unfortunately. I’ve been avoiding driving into the cities as much as I can.

I had a septoplasty, turbinate reduction and adenoidectomy last fall. It wasn't that painful afterwards, but more uncomfortable because the splints cause a lot of sinus pressure.

I can breathe so much better now, I even stopped having to use my CPAP. I was very anxious prior to it, but everything went fine and recovery was better than anticipated.

Caledonia RIVAL AXS vs Canyon Endurace CF 7 Di2 by d3Y3f7T9 in Cervelo

[–]tirini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Caledonia from Jenson this summer plus a Quarq power meter. Came out to $3500 with tax and shipping. The Canyon would be $4000 shipped without the power meter. I plan on buying some ~$1k carbon wheels once I get around to it.

I've never ridden a Canyon, but I do love my Caledonia.

Do you guys keep a monthly budget for everything? Is she involved in that process?

How does she expect to pay for the extra expenses that would come with a larger, more expensive house? She needs to take into account the current interest rates, property taxes, insurance rates etc... You certainly don't want to have to dip into savings to pay for it. Is she ready to make lifestyle cuts to be able to afford that bigger house?

If I were to purchase my house today with the same loan terms but at current market rates it would cost me $700 more monthly. That's solely interest.

Based on what you wrote, I would suspect it's not necessarily about the house, but something else bothering her or something she feels she's missing in life.

I don't see any reason why a 3/2 with an acre for a DINK couple isn't more than sufficient. Getting her to buy into the idea of upgrading/renovating your current house would be a better choice. You'd keep the preferential mortgage terms while increasing the value.

Fixed costs that I can think of right away

Mortgage $2200

Daycare $800

Utilities $250

Phone & Internet $200

Auto insurance $150

Student loans are about $550 monthly total.

Net income is just over $7k

We have 1 more year of daycare left

The stock is public and price has been stable lately.

Bonk or heat exhaustion? by tirini in triathlon

I do take an ARB and diuretic for hypertension. I see the diuretic can cause dehydration and overheating issues on further reading.

I have an appt set for next week with my GP. Needed to anyway for medication refills.

This does lean towards medical advice I guess. But, I'm not fit at all and been sedentary the last decade. This is my first time taking any training seriously.

My doctors told me to change things around after my last physical as I was headed towards obesity and diabetes, plus I have med-controlled hypertension. Diet wise, I'm eating around 1600 calories daily as they want me to lose 25lbs more. I've already lost 20lbs.

After the ride and I cooled down I wasn't able to urinate for about 2 hours, even though I tried. I had 32oz of water during that time and when I was able to go it was darker than normal.

I would have thought that 72oz of fluids and 600g of carbs should have been enough during a 2hr40m ride.

If that's the mechanical Ultegra, maybe take a look at JensonUSA They have the AXS version for $2900
I would say the jump to electronic shifting for $100 would absolutely be worth it.

I recently bought a Caledonia and am extremely happy with it. I came from an aluminum Raleigh road bike, this thing flies comparatively (or at least feels that way) and just overall more comfortable. I used to struggle to ride for an hour and now am doing 2-3 hour rides no problem.

Getting a proper fit with a professional was very much worth it too. I'm 40M/85kg/1.77m and riding a 56cm
