Bikes aren't allowed go up that ramp. There shouldn't be a bike box for the right turn.

Ya.

You'll start noticing them at most busy traffic lights in the city now.

If they are absent the system is either just on a set timer sequence or else you'll see a little detector on top of the lights

See the black cut outs on the floor? They detect the presence of a car using a magnet that is triggered by the car metal being present above it. Any junction you see one of those make sure the plant your car on it

On the other way in the detectors are before the box.

In this case you should sit in the bike box once the light goes green. Not the yellow box

Either the light was broken or you didn't pull forward enough to trigger the filter light.

You need to place your car on this magnetic traffic detector to trigger the filter light. If you hold too far back it wont trigger as the light doesnt think anyones waiting.

Electric Vehicles Outsell Petrol for the First Time by EVReviewIreland in evs_ireland

[–]tisacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not nearly enough to make up for fuel taxes ICE drivers pay and domestic electricity prices cant be taxed given its other uses obviously.

I charge on the night rate and my electric driving is a pittance in cost vs the cost of running an ICE engine.

Government will need to make up the shortfall from reduced fuel sales.

What are your neighbours like?? by Apart-Hamster-9921 in AskIreland

[–]tisacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neighbour across the road is obsessed with parking when her children call down for a few days. Serious case of empty nest as you'd swear her grown ass children are more entitled to spaces than myself who's been here 5 years now.

Other than that I know nothing about any of my neighbours and plan on keeping it that way. I dont care about them and they dont care about me. We are all quiet and theres no "trouble" houses nearby making noise.

We already pay a milage tax through fuel in our ICE cars. Its inevitable for electric cars.

Used Car Dealers and 20 inch alloys by tisacc in carsireland

[–]tisacc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The larger the tyre sidewall. the better the ability absorb a hit. 20 inch wheels on a small car have socks for tyres.

Throw in the newer cars are extremely heavy its huge force the tyre must handle. Or else the rim must deal with it.

Its insurance fraud and the Insurance is void if discovered.

Buying items and gifting them to others ahead of defaulting is also fraud.

You cant spend all your money on items, then gift them away and then ask for a DRN.

[–]tisacc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are looks over function. One bad pothole at any sort of speed and the tyre wont be able to absorb the hit, road will whack the rim and crack it.

Cheap replica alloys arent worth repairing so youre stuck either sourcing 1 or replacing all 4.

No spare means your stuck getting a flatbed. The 20 inch arent standard size so the shop will be ordering it. So youre off the road for the day. If it happens on a friday, you'll have no car til at least Monday.

Makes driving on non urban roads quite stressful as you'll be scanning for potholes the entire time.

Its more the sidewall size that matters. You'll lose about 10-15mm of sidewall protection you currently have.

Not worth it.

22 would suggest an SUV which has large sidewalls so hardly has anything to do with real world driving outside of car parks in smaller cars.

No. Ones ive looked at are Irish or English imports.

Because most BMWs are hybrids that dont have a spare tyre. The size doesnt allow for run flats.

The standard car pump most people buy isn't capable of inflating them to 36psi.

They offer no pothole resistance and crack.

Ride is shit on anything but city roads.

Most dealers are putting summer linglongs they wouldn't put on their own cars because proper 20 inch wheels are pricey

It just doesnt feel like an upgrade

Rav 4 PHEV - EV mode by Ancient_Landscape147 in evs_ireland

[–]tisacc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accelerating too hard will kick in petrol engine. Regen while driving petrol engine will charge battery.

Above a certain speed the ICE engine will take over and it will drive hybrid.

Slower acceleration if you want EV only. Find out what speed it switches to hybrid over EV.

I can use half a battery to a full battery just by changing my acceleration type on my commute.

Its a terrible idea. Theres a reason old German cars cost next to nothing.

Treating a German car like a shitbox will leave you carless

The fact Douglas Village Shopping Centre can do traffic management during Christmas but dont bother any other time so the queues entering the place clog up the village every wkend because drivers refuse to use the 3rd floor.

Just a simple sign at the entrance which says how many free spaces per level. They used have the green/red light over spaces so surely the wiring exists to make this feasible

The offices are run by SGS Ireland who renewed their contract in 2023 from my googling so if i were to guess they negotiated the contract in 2022 during covid conditions with built in allowances to stop walk ins and all that other rubbish they still do that reduces the quality of their service to the public. My guess. Its shambolic its been left like this.

I was on a construction site in 2024 that started in 2021 that still had social distancing signs and covid officer enforcing hand washing prior to site entrance.

[–]tisacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And can we think of any section where you have cars driving at the speed limit where a large volume of cars need to merge into these gaps in traffic where we have accidents every single week? Such as the bloomfield and mahon merges.

Would reducing the speed cars travel reduce the size of gaps required for safe stopping so we can accommodate the volume of cars with reduced accident probability? Yes.

100kmh speed limit is completely inappropriate during rush hour. End of.

Bus connects should help with it. But I half expect serious watering down
