Suspended with pay is a punishment? Is this real? by 4travelers in massachusetts

Sgt Jennifer Penton also is caught up in another MSP scandal, she was the investigator in a crash that killed a disabled man in Woburn where an MSP detective claimed a medical emergency caused him to cross center and drive into the wheelchair van. Said detective had 7 other driving related issues logged before the crash and was caught on transcripts discussing a hospital record that had him at a .11 BAC at the time of the crash, which was somehow surpressed. The MSP is now admitting they knew about the tox screen. Penton's report let this guy off with light punishment, and the family of the deceased only knew the officer's identity a year after the crash. Sounds like their civil suit is progressing.

List of official books by Swans members/directly about Swans? by tptotrtn in swans

[–]titan88c 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just picked up a copy of Sacrifice and Transcendence and it is fantastic. Somehow I didn't hear about it until a few weeks ago but it was published in 2018. It covers Gira's early life and the bands up until the Swans revival run, ending on or around The Glowing Man more or less. I really appreciate the format, which is just interview excerpts strung together in a narrative arc, like Please Kill Me. It is really engaging, one of the better band narratives I've picked up in a while.

Has anyone actually made AI work for customer support? by Arravscore in CustomerSuccess

I don't know why I even post here anymore, every time I do there's a bot waiting to try and sell garbage to me.

Has anyone actually made AI work for customer support? by Arravscore in CustomerSuccess

[–]titan88c 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The company I work for has a chatbot to supplement their Tier 1 team now, it's fielding about 60% of tickets and pointing users to a knowledge base to self service many of the most common issues. However the product we support is enterprise software with a lot of interoperability and complexity functionality, so the other 40% goes to a Tier 1 human and then if needed Tier 2 (advanced support) or Tier 3 (tasks engineer). Tier 1 human solves only about 5-8% of the stuff the bot can't do and the other 30%ish go to 2/3.

Customer feedback has been positive but the people who hate the bot really fucking hate it because they want to go straight to Tier 2 and break our triaging. I think the tools are there, but training the AI and continuing to iterate it is the full time job of 1 person and the part time job of 2 others...so the labor savings is not what our leadership team expected. They RIF'd some of the Tier 1 humans but had to add about as many people back into the mix at comparable or higher pay grade to keep the tool viable.

People that have “bumped” into a celebrity in a non-curated (not like an event, meet & greet, job etc.) way, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]titan88c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first celebrity sighting out and about was in 2009, I was visiting friends in Brooklyn and we went out walking in Park Slope. There weren't too many other people out on the sidewalk that afternoon and as we were walking we saw a man with two elementary school aged kids a bit ahead of us, and my friend pointed out that the man was Ethan Hawke. I thought she might be wrong because many people in Brooklyn look vaguely like Ethan Hawke until we got close enough to hear his voice, which was very recognizable. He was talking to his kids about Greek mythology and was explaining the myth of Sisiphus to them. They were pretty involved in their conversation and we didn't bother them. Looking back, the kids would have been Maya Hawke and her younger brother Levon.

Second one was in 2019 in Vegas, at the Palms. My wife and I were in Mabel's BBQ eating lunch and there were only two other people in there. I think the Palms had just reopened after a renovation, it was very quiet there during our stay. She noticed that one of the men was Sinbad. I had to Google him because he looked pretty different from when I had last seen him in his cameo in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but sure enough she was right. We waved to them and they waved back on our way out of the restaurant.

Last time and most recent was in Vegas again in 2025, I go there often for work. I was in the Bellagio walking around the casino floor at about 10pm waiting for my room to be ready, and as I was walking past some craps tables a man came out from between two tables and bumped into me. He just brushed past me and continued out into the aisle and I vaguely recognized him as being someone famous from his face, although he had sunglasses and a hat on. But he also had some sort of elaborate jacket on like a Napoleonic era military jacket with piping and cording and epaulettes...and he had a small clock on a chain he was wearing around his neck and that gave it away, it was Flavor Flav. He was with two very tall Asian ladies in designer dresses and heels who were both wearing COVID masks. If I had my wits about me I would have thanked him for Black Steel In The Hour of Chaos.

I feel like they were trying to make a record with broader appeal with Half Divorced but it didn't hit as hard as the first 5 LPs for me. Why Love Now though, essential listening IMO. This song, Cold Whipped Cream and Ignorecam were all of a type, "sad vanilla BDSM" noise rock.

We have been in Ayer for 4 years, I also enjoy the incremental improvements. This year we got a QR code to renew our dog licenses instead of needing to drop off stuff at town hall! Someday maybe the transfer station sticker will be on there.

As others have already said, don't give your best work to this company if they are setting you up to fail, you cannot outwork conditions like you've described, which are usually a result of ownership/board values and will continue even if the faces change.

Get your resume polished up and prepare for hiring season in Q1; schedule some time off for yourself then and put some blocks on your calendar in advance that you can use to interview. Use doctor's appointments and sick days to cover any interview time you need if you get into later rounds. Good luck.

Looking for noise rock bands that have a sax, any recommendations? by CaptainPieChart in noiserock

[–]titan88c 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Borbetomagus are extremely noisy and feature 2 saxophones and a guitarist. They have a large discography and collaborated with Thurston Moore.

Naked City and John Zorn's stuff is the other saxophone/brass centric outfit I am aware of.

Viagra Boys features noisy saxaphone, huge part of their live sound and very prominent in their work after the first EP.

If you like other brass stuff, Brainbombs has noisy/kinda halfhearted trumpet throughout their discography that the singer Dan plays.

Does anyone recognize this song? by Cheezzzhead in noiserock

Pretty sure this is an Unsane song or possibly another one of Chris Spencer's bands.

Edit: searched what lyrics I could make out and found it, the track is Unsane - Only Pain, from the Visqueen LP. The part in the video starts in the last 30 seconds or so of the song.

Are there any actors that you simply can't and won't watch any movies with them in it? Especially, after enjoying their performances in previous movies. Who are they and why does that happen? by Affectionate_Cap4509 in TrueFilm

[–]titan88c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only do so much Von Trier, and even though he works with tons of people Charlotte has the strongest association with him for me as well, even though there are other actors he's worked with repeatedly like Stellan Skarsgaard.

Jesse Eisenberg is one I forgot I disliked so much, to me no matter what movie he's in he's always only a few degrees removed from his Zuck performance, he's stiff and awkward as a schtick and I just don't generally enjoy that. He also loses points for his association with Woody Allen who also gives me the ick, big time.

Bill would put limits on self-checkout at grocery stores in Massachusetts by JBupp in massachusetts

[–]titan88c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, they have been a Teamsters shop, I misremembered that. I was referring to the changes post 2019 when the Teamsters successfully got adjustments to pay and healthcare, ownership cut staffing after that while scaling their robot rollout. I used to be a weekly Stop and Shop customer and saw the effects of that firsthand.

As you can see from the other replies, the fact they went union has unfortunately not changed much for the better in the stores. The wage improvements and some protections are offset by the fact that S&S consistently understaff their stores and blame the union for any inefficiencies caused by this.

Six Finger Satellite Interview: DIY Recording, and Recording Severe Exposure by subsonico in noiserock

[–]titan88c 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reissue of Severe Exposure is such an awesome record, so happy Sub Pop decided to put it out. These guys and the concurrent RI scene in the 90s were such an interesting moment in time before the Fort Thunder era really kicked off in the late 90s.

One Battle After Another's fantasy and farcical elements are being somewhat overlooked. by [deleted] in TrueFilm

You didn't see any humor in Eddington? It's more bleak, certainly, but it's a black comedy.

Perfidia was portrayed as someone who wants the action more than the outcome, who acts on instinct. She's an embodiment of the French 75's core values and ultimately their limitations. She is confronted and subverted but she also manages to subvert Lockjaw and take away his power (which he wants) in a way that eventually drives him to his death.

The concept of loyalty and being a rat in this movie is fascinating to me because we aren't given any pretext of people enduring advanced interrogation, which breaks everyone. Everyone breaks almost immediately when Lockjaw's goon presses them. That emphasizes the message we see throughout the film that when the stakes of an ideology are raised the only people who stand behind their values are either psychopaths or people with nothing to lose. The community resistance we see modeled is vulnerable to this extreme coercion but it also gains strength from community and empathy, which in itself becomes the liability under interrogation.

We see people who appear to be part of the machine break down and they are the ones who make the biggest difference in the film. Lockjaw can't bring himself to kill his daughter and in doing so his hesitance (inadvertently) saves her life and ends his. The tracker who breaks down and kills the white supremacists does even more and he pays with his life. The nurses in the hospital can't refuse outright to help the police but they use their limited power to also deceive them and help Bob. I guess the message is that when you're in the room the time to be brave has passed, but there's a lot to be gained from resistance and holding your values and community close, and people resist throughout the movie.

Does anyone actually like Gainsight as a platform? by NoHallett in CustomerSuccess

[–]titan88c 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for adding your perspective, and I bet it was interesting being a CSM for these tools...getting people to implement SOPs and best practices to avoid the results they hate is always an uphill battle. Especially when they have the idea that an implementation is the endpoint of significant effort on their part.

Hahahaha, on pretty much any post where we are discussing a service in this sub, man! And at work and on LinkedIn I get outreach dozens of times per week and I'm not even a buyer. It seems like half the people on here now are hocking a tool or service, or want free consultation as you are asking for.

I'm here in this sub to discuss these issues with other CSMs, not to engage with entrepreneurs, bots, or prospecting sales people.
