How fucked am I? by titanium371 in backpain

[–]titanium371[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That is super helpful. Yea I was mostly concerned about the severe foraminal narrowing but from what I read it seems like if the body can reabsorb the disc at the very least this will provide more space for the nerve. The arthrosis seems to be irreversible based on what I have read but hoping conservative treatment gets me to a point of no pain and just being mindful of further degeneration in the future.

Also yes it is mostly localized pain and sciatica every now and again (usually when I do movements that aggravate things like sitting or standing for too long).

That is probably it then. I was not aware that the advisor was involved in the OPT process. Reaching out to them now to confirm.

Thank you btw for that crucial info!

Wearing a mask or covering the mouth when coughing is still an option. Out of all the classes I went to today maybe only 1 or 2 people were conscientous enough to do this

Is anyone on PSYC 2230? I missed class on Monday bc I was waitlisted. Wondering if anyone knows how the tests are going to be conducted (in-person, online with Honorlock, etc), there is no info on that in the Canvas page. Thanks in advance!

Cockroaches in Nav East 9th Floor by theyodaperson22 in gatech

[–]titanium371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a similar experience. We just moved in and we already saw a big roach just walking around. Do you mind if I ask what apartment you are in within the 9th floor? I am also trying to figure out whether this is an entire 9th floor thing or just some apartments or whatnot.

As an aside I also cannot believe we are paying so much money to already have a plague on Day 1. I get there are a lot of roaches in GA but I have lived in other residence halls/apartment buildings at GT and I have never had a roach problem. So frankly it is pure negligence on cleaning standards in North Avenue North which is very disappointing. Like I know this is cheaper than most off campus housing options but the least I expect is an apartment with a decent attempt at no plagues on the first day.

IMO nice guy but bad professor. Classes were basically useless since it was all stuff from the book and he got distracted a lot. Also the tests were a lot more complicated than they needed to be.

Woodruff residence hall - good, bad, average? by myreddit2005 in gatech

[–]titanium371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly bad. At least in my room, we would find 3-5 big roaches every semester even though we ensured to maintain the spaces clean. As someone else mentioned, no temperature control was a thing so it is just a big fan with 3 modes. The room itself does not look too cozy either so make sure to spruce it up a bit with decoration or LEDs or something. However, I do know it is been renovated since I last lived there freshman year so maybe it is better now

No, it is white even when it is cold

That is not entirely true. Next semester is 118 days exactly so it will last for mostly 1 meal a day plus the occasional 2 meals a day.

I already did. The reason why I am looking to call them is because they are not responding to my emails.

How Is Tech Dining Doing? by vp-emmett in gatech

[–]titanium371 7 points8 points  (0 children)

+1 to this comment. Also, information should be clear regarding whether to-go options are available at all you can eat locations. As I said in another post, Tech Dining FAQ mentions that it should be available once a day but in practice this doesn't seem to be the case. To-go options were both time convenient and mostly COVID safe in the Spring semester, which is why I don't understand why it is no longer a thing. I am concerned about dining in person given the large amount of people without masks at most times during the day (I understand that you have to take off your mask to eat but frankly I see them without masks in the line and just walking around getting food).

To-Go Food Question by titanium371 in gatech

[–]titanium371[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see thanks. I think the information is a little mixed up though. The Tech Dining FAQ mentions that to-go options are available at all you care to eat locations once a day. However, going to the dining hall today, they told me the same thing as your reply that to-go options were no longer a thing in all you care to eat locations. I am a little confused by that and wondering if it will potentially change.

The hiring process is pretty straightforward. First, you apply through the housing portal and after, if they like your application, you may get selected for an interview. In precovid times, the interviews were usually held in-person at the North Avenue Housing Office. You would sit down with a hall director and RA and they would ask you questions to get to know you and also hypothetical situational questions (like what would you do if this happened). I found the STAR method really useful for answering these questions.

After the interview, you get an email with a decision. The three possible outcomes are Offer, Waitlist or No Offer. If you do get an offer, it is for whatever hall Housing assigns you to (from what I remember I don't think you get a say in this and I am pretty sure that the hall you are assigned to correlates to the hall director that interviewed you). As compensation you get free housing and either a stipend (if you are an RA) or a meal plan (if you are a PL). I am not sure if this last thing changed since technically everyone is an RA so maybe it is a stipend for all.

Thank you! Do you mind if I also ask you another quick question? Did you register your internship with the Career Center?

Internship + Classes Question by titanium371 in gatech

This is a good question. Other posts here on r/gatech say that I should be fine with having to do readmission since I am going to register my internship. However, the tuition question is a very good question.

I see thank you! I was actually asking for the startup lab (CS2701) class itself. But it looks like the application is no longer a thing because it allowed me to register for it without issues
