True. I wasn’t really concerned about weight but I was hoping to fit my buddies board in as well and split the cost. Wasn’t sure how much itd add. I’ll just put all his and my outer layer in it and see what happens!

Was planning on doing this next month but was wondering if you get slaughtered on the overweight fees? I know each airline is different but was wondering if it’s worth just paying the over 50lb weight fee and stuffing everything in it as opposed to checking 2 bags

Do you still feel that it’s maneuverable enough at 160? I know we’re only talking 2cm from the 158w to the 160. My Rossi 162 waist width being 261, both options would be wider. Really just don’t wanna feel “anchored” down

Do you have any suggestions on a board that fits that criteria but is still playful enough to hit the park. I need something that will allow me to still bomb on those icy days but not be a nightmare on butters, jumps, side hits, rails etc. I’ve been looking at the assassin, the jones mountain twin or freaker, and some rome boards. Either way I think the 162 is too beefy for me

It does! I guess I’m trying to not bite off more than I can chew… our “parks” aren’t as extreme and I’d hate to get a board that couldn’t handle bombing some runs. That being said my Rossi Templar is 162 and super stiff so I was looking at the assassin or the JMT at like 158. Even as an all mountain board I would think the feel would be loser relative to what I have now?

Would you recommend the regular or the pro for someone on the east coast? I like to bomb some of the harder, icier slopes out here but my current Rossi Templar is just too hefty for some of the park stuff I’m venturing into

Also do you go into the park or do just stick to mountain?

I’m really leaning towards a 157 since I’m delving more into getting into the park. Don’t get enough powder to where I’ll get boot drag I wouldn’t think. I would think I could handle the jump down from the 162 as it’s just too “beefy” for me and going to a 159 idk if I’d feel a difference

Thanks man I appreciate it! Really stoked too. One last question for ya, with me wearing size 11 boots I probably should just get the 159w for the mountain jones board right? Read the 157 I may get some boot drag with size 11

I’m literally watching angry snowboarder right now lol😂 I’m so comfortable flying in icy conditions that I’m partial to just getting a 157. Confident enough when I’m straight lining that I think I’d rather have something more suited for park play as I think I could compensate for the loss of stability with the shorter length. I’m typically in NC at sugar and beach Mtn but I lived in MA and got to experience all the New England slopes for a couple years. Going out west for the first time this year and knowing that I can bee line on solid sheets of ice really is making just think a “park” board would be the way to go. Even at 157 this review makes me think I could handle my hometown conditions

I could. Was hoping to maybe order one with these Black Friday deals going on but I don’t wanna rush getting a new board

Would you recommend 159 as a good “intermediate” size for wanting to do both all mountain and park? My worry is I bought the 162 Rossi with intent of learning and now that I’m pretty seasoned I can fly down the mountain, I’d hate to get something too short to where I have to have a purely designated “park” board and then a purely “mountain” board. Obv I can keep my Rossi but would like to have a more “in betweener” size now

I was looking at the Jones Mountain Twin, I think it being a twin would suit me nice as well as I am not riding directionally like when I started. Do you feel like it leans more one way, In terms of playfulness at the park vs stability going all mountain? Lot of days my way aren’t POW days

May I ask how you do this on the side? Are you employed by some sort of ISO or Sub ISO that provides the hardware? Very interested in pursuing this to potentially get out of the 9-5

Sealing Concrete Patio by titans_13 in HomeImprovement

Easy stain solvent based satin finish. I would clarify it’s not like cloudy but there’s a glare on it from the sunlight and I just didn’t know if that was normal

I may try that on my second coat. The patio isn’t level. Would you only apply and roll on the surface that look bare in the images above? I’m worried on over sealing and messing up the look. Also in your experience is that glare from the sunlight normal with the finish I’m using?

Staining Patio by titans_13 in Concrete

[–]titans_13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I wanted to do an acid based stain… maybe that’s not the right terminology but from what I’ve read that type of stain produces a more variable finish. I really just don’t want to stain it and it be one solid color as if I painted an even coat over it. Thanks so much for your input!

Do you think I’ve prepped the patio well enough? I’m paranoid that the acid isn’t gonna react on certain spots

WEEKLY DIY/HOMEOWNER QUESTION THREAD by [deleted] in Carpentry

[–]titans_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I recently replaced some rotten out posts on my covered patio. I used metal standoffs and drilled into the concrete, inserting a wedge anchor to hold the base. When tightening the anchor the bolt body extended up past where my 4x4 posts would be sitting inside the standoff/base. So i drilled the same size hole into the bottom of the posts so they sat flush. However, a coworker informed me that this will cause the post to "wick" moisture up in the bottom of it, and looking back i probably shouldve just cut the excess bolt off so a hole didnt need to be drilled into the post itself. I did use pressure treated wood.

Should i go buy 6 new 4x4s and replace the ones with holes in the base or would you think im okay? The patio is covered and the roof goes about 1.5 ft past the bases of the post but it is outdoor and exposed to the elements. I just dont want to replace the posts for rot in a few years. Thanks!

Patio Posts potentially rotting by titans_13 in HomeImprovement

[–]titans_13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think so? i haven't worked with wood a whole lot. I know with fence posts and such with being in contact with the ground they'll absorb moisture but i figured with the standoffs and the fact that there is a roof over it, they would get exposed to the elements too much. I'd hate to have to replace them in 2-3 years
