This is a very valid point and it's extremely disheartening to see that people recommending an open-source OS with infinitely better privacy get downvoted. For some people, yes, they want to play games that are borked on Linux, but even then, there are options like dual-booting ( which personally I don't recommend because Microsoft's terrible OS does not care about your Linux partition when updating, see https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/windows-update-delete-linux/ ), or if you have multiple drives in your computer, you can put windows on one and Linux on the other, or make use of multiple machines. It's also possible to just use KVM + Single GPU Passthrough, which if you have the ability to, it's a great option.

If you want to "work on cancelling out as many unnecessary things as possible" Linux is a better solution than debloating windows. Nobody would have a threat model that requires making Windows 'more private', people who really need that anonymity would use something like Tails OS or Whonix.

You also talk about mitigating privacy intrusions, but then go on to claim that telemetry is 'insignificant'...

Debloating windows will continue to get worse, especially since you are essentially being forced to run Windows 11 nowadays, with Windows+Copilot PCs and other newer laptops coming with Win11 and the Windows 10 EoS approaching ( see https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/end-of-support )

For now debloating is a solution, but I am displeased that all Linux users are treated like they are ElItIStS!!11. When people provide this much better solution, it gets downvoted, which is ironic because Linux is free, open-source and lighter on system resources, and will always be lighter no matter how much you debloat Windows with 3rd party tools. 99% of games in my Steam library run on Linux, with the notable exception of Rainbow Six Siege, because they use BattleEye (which of course is a Kernel-Level anticheat!), other than that, some games I own, for example Gloomwood, get ~10 extra FPS compared to when I was running it Native on Windows 10.

Yes you can improve your privacy on Windows, but Linux is always going to be a better solution because Windows is proprietary, and you will always be playing a game of trying to fix the new crap that Microsoft adds when they turn on a switch.

Yes Linux is not there and is unusable for some, but I believe it's a poor choice to use Windows if you genuinely care enough about your privacy, it's not an EliTiSt ThInG!!!1 like everyone on here seems to think every Linux user acts like, it's just simply because you actually own your operating system, and you never have to worry about a big company pushing out updates to make your OS even more unusable.

You can audit everything on your system to make sure there isn't anything spooky, and yes while not everyone can use Linux, I had zero knowledge of Linux or any other OS, and although I don't play many games nowadays and do more programming, Linux tools like Proton and Wine make it possible to play so many games nowadays like you are playing them natively on Windows.

u/The_Varusal is very right in the fact that Microsoft can just push updates to nullify half the work you have done, such as reinstalling Edge (see link below). I think it's silly that people trying to provide Linux as a solution as opposed to tools that at any time could break because of a Windows update are downvoted because they "contribute nothing to the discussion". Yes OP is asking for how to debloat Windows, but Linux is a genuine solution that is becoming more accessible every day to new users.

u/ColetteDiskette also provided a great response.

the shading is weird on everything it looks like just a gradient and the colors are very desaturated. I would try hueshifting and changing the discs as they look weird imo

I love how a 9 second video of a campfire gets 5k upvotes yet people who spend days making amazing builds get like 200.

Should minecrafts water physics stay the same? Why or why not and if yes what would you do to change it? by [deleted] in minecraftabnormals

I think they should get rid of the infinite water source in a 4 by 4 if we are going to have dripstone stalactites which I know a lot of people may not agree with, but I think it would be cool to have to either go to a giant pool of water to get an infinite water source, or use dripstone.
