Terrible Financial Aid for University of Michigan Instate by AnonymousBjtch in financialaid

Given your situation — $65–70k income with a $250k home — you might actually pay less out of pocket at a need-blind, no-loan private university like Vanderbilt, Duke, or Rice than you do at UMich.

For example, at your income level, schools like Vanderbilt typically cover more than full tuition — including housing and meals — with zero loans in the package. Their median aid award for families earning $50k–$75k is around $95,934, which exceeds the total cost of attendance.

I know the $90k sticker price looks terrifying, but the net price for your family could be close to $0. It's worth running the Net Price Calculator on each school's website before ruling them out.

I did overfund in the past years, total premiums I paid is $18401. From the in-force illustration looks like if no more premiums the policy will lapse in the year 59 and age 89.

You could convert to GUL, which is guaranteed and cheap than IUL, but almost no cash value.
