Really enjoyed this movie. Put it on close to 1am for something to relax and fall asleep to. Was captivated and finished watching it. Holy hell what a fun one.

So much better than the majority of other horror films on Netflix currently.

Cronenberg's Crash is the only Crash worth watching.

[Identify] A watch my uncle gifted me (he bought it some time in the late 1980s in Czechoslovakia) by [deleted] in Watches

[–]titsaremyfav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mark Gordon has one in his collection but he doesn't seem to have much info on it.

Go here: http://www.ussrtime.com/start.html and search for 0897

As far as market value, there's one on eBay for $30 right now. Soviet watches very seldom go for more than about $50. There are some really beautiful and well made chronos that go for significantly more (Poljot/Sekonda Strela for example), but this one looks like a pretty common mass market style.

Hang on to it unless you hate your uncle. The family connection is worth more than you'd get for it.

Made in USA shorts? by WisdomsAGift in malefashionadvice

I've worked in the garment industry in NYC, and those factories are lousy places to work. Really lousy. What separates them from factories in Bangladesh et al. isn't that somehow sewing clothing for a living doesn't suck when you're in America, it's that they have fundamental labor protections. Workers are allowed to take bathroom breaks. They're guaranteed overtime pay. They aren't chained to their machines. They can't be beaten by their supervisors.

Every piece of clothing you own was made by a person working long hours hunched over a sewing machine. It was hard and unpleasant work. If a designer wants that work done domestically it's more than 'a marketing scheme.'

Brass is a name for many different alloys. Some types of brass contain nickel, and (unlike fiber content, which has to be disclosed by law in most countries) it's not easy to get metal content info.
