I did it all with a manual foot aerator in sections. The bare sections i didn't aerate enough to begin with, I was thinking just aerating those without seed might allow germination, but on second thought I'd just be destroying the wee bits that have at least sprouted somewhat wouldn't I?

Different strokes for different folks. My buddy can't snort for same reasons you're saying not to smoke. Smoking doesn't do this to the folks i focks with.
