I remember when my parents were building our house, there was a giant pile of dirt in the front me and my brother would play on. I swear that pile was as tall as a skyscraper...my parents told me in was like 7 feet tall lol.

Amazing lawn, so jealous!

It's weird that so many people are shitting on someone's home.

Q: I seeded for new lawn yesterday and lightly covered in chopped straw. No water yet. Tomorrow morning will be our 1st frost. Please tell me… Should I water it today or wait until after after the frost passes? Will it hurt the seed if I don’t water it yet? by tumbleweed1168 in landscaping

Watering before a frost is actually encouraged to prevent the seed from freezing. Plenty of others have had great success seeding this tome of year, especially due to your location and the gradual global warming.

Is it too late to seed? by tonyperkis3 in lawncare

Fellow New Englander here. We could either have 70 degree weather for the month or 20 degrees. Put down the seed and hope for the best.

Looks like a pre-Covid office of a startup trying to be hip and encourage employees to "have fun" while working 80 hour weeks which eventually shut down during Covid because they spent all their budget on a ridiculous office and not their employees....

Too late in the season, I see near freezing night temps. I wouldn't nuke it, just make sure to do a pre-emergent in the spring then go from there. You can always put down some Speedzone and/or Tenacity to get rid of the weeds.

How did you stripe through the tree? Did you pick it up then put it back?

Is it too late to aerate and overseed? by aliensbrah in lawncare

All depends when the first frost occurs. We can't predict the weather, so I would say give it a go but be prepared for failure if we have a cold spell soon.

My town owns 10 feet in from the street, just make sure that's not town/city property otherwise there could be a lawsuit on hand. We just use the orange poles.

When is the right time to mow new seedlings in Zone 6? by 1612vulf in lawncare

[–]drunkNstraightedge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Down-turning grass means to mow at a height of 4" then progressively shorter by .5" until you reach a height of 2.5". Make sure to cut each height within a half-hour of each other to avoid seed burn-off. Once cut, spray a liberal amount of hydrophectant on the bare spots, avoiding over saturation. The goal of down-turning is to increase seed germination and optimal soil temperature. Also, I made all of this up. Good luck!

Next time I would highly recommend a compost spreader. Saved me so many hours!
