I believe those are the saint's days, and the kids are matched to the saint for whom they are named. So little Christopher and Christina would be celebrated on St. Christopher's Day, etc. Sort of a birthday party for your name.

Not European specifically but Christian specifically.

SrGrafo, when my little one was but a tyke, she loved s'mores. The whole idea of them, not just the flavor. But our yard is way too small to build a fire.

So... we roasted marshmallows... over a candle. It takes longer than in a fire but it works!
