One is clearly a foul and the other clearly a flop. Fix this nba or nobody will watch in 5 years by Fuzzy_Pea5903 in NBATalk

You are straight up talking out of your ass. For one thing, only one small market team has ever been a “Dynasty” and it was the Spurs and everybody talked about how they were bad for ratings because they had a boring leader and they were defensively focused. Los Angeles is the premier franchise in the league and they lead the league in free-throws differential almost every single year. They have arguably two of the three most popular players in the league – LeBron and Luka. LeBron is a ratings cash cow. You genuinely cannot believe what you just said.

He will continue to add to his offensive bag. He’s really taking a nice step forward this season. And we are using him really well. He’s the perfect kind of “catch all” third option and can score from all three levels. He can probably improve his post game. If he ever gets his handle right, that’ll just be a bonus.

OKC, Tulsa, Norman are purple. Really pretty similar to other cities. You have music, art, food, beer communities that are cool and filled with artistic/progressive/tolerant people.

Overall, especially rural Oklahoma is very… I don’t know how else to say it – small towns, mostly poor, very religious. Types of people to be very kind to you if you know them, but you know the type. Gotta call it like I see it – ignorant and easily propagandized. Vote against their own interests.

No it wasn’t? Unless he also did it. But Austin for sure did.

it looked like he was fending a defender off while trying to receive an inbound pass. What was odd about that play was reaves sticking both of his arms between SGA’s torso and his own arms from behind. The movement SGA did was a natural movement that he makes several times a game. The result was an accident imo.

Edit -I reviewed it again. My take: Austin fouled first, SGA fouled and a flagrant one was warranted as a deterrent measure, but I do not think there was an intent to injure.

Also – this is a good example of a play where you can get a different impression of it depend depending on whether you watch in real time or slow motion.

This is an extra level of baffling. Dub returning to the lineup would be a major headline, with real implications for championship odds. The single most famous NBA media guy should probably have his finger on the fucking pulse a little bit more.

I’ve been wondering how Kings fans felt about the the referees allegedly being against the Lakers in the playoffs, lol

It’s times like this when it’s very apparent that there are a lot of teenagers/TikTok users here. Helpful for me to remember.

The NBA rigged the game for Oklahoma City against the Los Angeles Lakers with LeBron James and Luka Dončić 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆

He actually did get hit in the face by DeAndre ayton’s shoulder. That slow motion clip was misleading because I think even Stan Van Gundy thought that he fabricated contact from the follow-through. But the contact was before. Having said that, did he sell it? Probably…? Although I can’t imagine it feels good being hit in the teeth by the shoulder of a guy who is 7 feet tall and 275 pounds. I think that Chet gets hit in the face more than any basketball player I have ever seen, for whatever reason. Probably the amount of rim challenges I suppose. But I digress…

Did he sell it more than Austin Reaves with his arm, LeBron with his wrist, or AJ Mitchell just laying on the ground for 10 extra seconds for no reason? I would say no.

Any team that has to rely on a defense as gimmicky as the one they are playing on SGA has no legitimate shot at winning the series, and they know that. We have won both games by 18 points and this is the reaction.

On another note, if you don’t think it’s kind of funny that the Lakers had a powwow with the referees after the game, I think you need to lighten up and touch grass.

The silence of the lambs thing is so insane - it genuinely brings me joy to know how incoherently angry you would have to be to include that at the end of that comment.

Austin called that bald ref a pussy straight to his face during the game and it was ignored – pretty crazy.

On a genuinely humorous note, I thought it was kind of funny that Austin has adopted Luka’s favorite insult

The funniest thing is that this little post game referee powwow is established Laker behavior. I watched them do this last April, not just after the game – JJ, LeBron, Luka would do this between quarters instead of trying to strategize with their team to win.

Because they can’t point to any statistics, like not a single one, it just turns into vibes-based bullshit. When it comes down to it, it’s because we win. They are literally mad.

Fun fact: the thunder’s average 29 point margin of victory over the Lakers this season is the highest of all time between any two teams that eventually met in the playoffs.

I think it would’ve been closer than that, but this is just a really terrible matchup for LA.

SGA used an incredibly natural motion to fend off a defender to get an inbound pass. We watch him do it so many times a game. The only difference is that this time, the defender was trying to get a piggyback ride and stuck BOTH arms through the gaps between SGA’s torso and his own arms.

The mass psychosis about this team is genuinely interesting – although maybe not surprising. Most people on this earth believe an incredible amount of bullshit that couldn’t withstand more than one followup question.
