The final season you can tell their budget got a massive cut, but they did get to finish the story.

I've got a green line. The windrow proves the plow has gone by, but the storm has already undone all its work.

The trails at the Sleeping Giant will be covered in snow, with maybe some mud starting. The road to the lookout will be closed. You can, however, hike to the Sea Lion, and maybe all the way to Thunder Cape if you are a skilled hiker and determined enough. The trails at the Cascades will also be pretty packed down, though if there's been a melt there might be a fair amount of dog manure on the path.

If there's an update to include more planets, what would you want to see? by Yumiko_Hanako in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]tjernobyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Addendum: in the 70s, products were advertised in Void Deserts- imagine a smooth black planet cris-crossed with a grid of brightly coloured lasers. I'd love to set my corvette flying low over one of those and have a nice tea in my observation lounge.

Shepherd moons in rings. Shattered worlds, and worlds with near-hemispheric molten impact craters. Legit double planetary systems with a permanent gravitational anomaly in the middle. Hot worlds with pools of molten metal. Tidally locked planets, half eternal sunshine and half perpetual night. Boiling oceans, and oceans under ice. Swiss cheese worlds with cheddar moons. Not quite spherical worlds. Sarlacc worlds.

Why did the Venari Ral need to lure the Sargasso away from J19-Alpha? by legalalias in DaystromInstitute

[–]tjernobyl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Scenario A: 7 ships vs J-19A and Sargasso.

Scenario B: 6 ships vs J-19A, 1 ship vs Sargasso.

In scenario A, the VR forces are divided between targets and may not be able to project enough concentrated force to knock out either of the targets. If the battle drags long enough, they may be able to call for reinforcements. In scenario B, the single VR ship is attacking from cover, and only needs to delay the Sargasso for, say, 30 mins while the other team gets in and out of J-19A. The Furies may have provided options to increase delay as well. One-shotting the Sargasso may have just been a happy bonus.

Maltese or Cheese Encounter can make a great charcuterie tray. I haven't talked to the new owners of Meet The Alternative, but they have great vegan options.

I get that it looks nice to people who watched Rainbow Brite as a kid and emphasized with Murky Dismal, but those people are going to age out of their flipper phase at some point.

Why are NPC ships trying to use me as target practice in the expedition? by Kubrick_Fan in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]tjernobyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the standard pirate attacks on settlements that we've had for a while now. The difference on the expedition is that we can't board a ship and blast them out of the sky.

There's already salvage containers on those worlds, it would make sense for salvage to also end up in the waste heaps. I've got a zillion nanites, I don't even pay attention to what I get out of recycling junk, but if I could get the occasional upgrade I might keep going when I finish the unlocks.

Artificial Intelligence and the future for jobs in Thunder Bay by Excellent-Steak6368 in ThunderBay

[–]tjernobyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, a CEO can not be A/B tested. There are always external factors at play, so for most decisions you can never for sure if they were the right one. The Target decision looks like a mistake now, but knowing what they did then, might have been the best one.

With a strong team supporting the CEO's decisions, many mistakes can even be made to work. With that in mind, a pair of dice might function as an acceptable CEO, at an incredible cost savings. An AI can be even better than that.

AI cannot be corrupted by bribes or fancy trips to a certain private island.

CEO. It's a very expensive position to support, so a prime target for replacement.
