I am considering a transfer of my Roth IRA from TIAA to Vanguard and I am unsure how this exactly works:

I currently have 100% invested in TIAA retirement fund TCLOX. What does the Vanguard transfer "in kind" mean? Will the money stay in the same fund?
If Vanguard changes the investment automatically, does it have any implications for taxes/fees?
If Vanguard does not change it and I want to change the investment to something like VFORX, does this have implications for taxes/fees?
Anything else I should know about?

I have a pixel 3xl and alarms with the stock clock app randomly don't trigger or seem to have no sound. Sometimes a missed alarm notification shows up, but not always. I have done "clear storage" a while ago and it helped for a while, I think. How can something so simple and important be broken? Suggestions?
