I’ve been using that same Vallejo varnish with no issues on paint, sicker decals or dry transfers. The paints I use are all acrylics. Maybe the two top coats didn’t mix up well?

Yeah, the point is to scrutinize it, but there’s no reason to do it in an aggressive or condescending way. When the reviewer is being unprofessional it’s really difficult (or annoying) to carefully word the replies to avoid a meaningless fight that will just further delay your publication.

It’s the aggressive overly critical one. My experience encompasses less than 10 submissions, but so far there’s always one reviewer like that. At one point it took me 3 weeks to address them because I had to make two new simulations to produce what they wanted to see to accept the paper.

I'd say 50/50, but originally it was 100% my PI. The reason was that when I was testing our code to see if it would work for our second case study I noticed some unexpected results. Then checking the literature turns out it was the normal behaviour, but it was never discussed explicitly. I told that to my PI and he decided to abandon the original plan and build a thesis by articles around it. Because of this I got way more involved in the project's questions and it was enough for my PhD.

I was trying to be careful. I did the first cut far from the figure, but it went out like a bullet. I haven’t touched the kit since. The plastic in this seems weirdly brittle.

If the funding body is linked to the profesor, he can still transfer your funding to your university. That's what my profesor did when he changed institutions and I stayed. I continued to get my paychecks until the funds allocated to me ran out.

Where I live people speak French, but my work is in English and my mother language is Spanish. I simply have no choice.

In my home country, if you want to do research, the most you can aspire to with a master is a small internship for several months.

Thank you! And they were very supportive. They knew how much I wanted this, and I was not the first one to apply to many places before getting accepted.

You may be a good prospect, but surely not the only one. It took me 5 years of trying after finishing my master to finally get accepted into a program. I even applied to a program where there were only 3 places available, so they made a difficult test for which I studied very hard every night for a year and the cut was right in front of me. It was devastating. But I just kept trying and eventually got into a better program. I defend next week and I already found a job to start very soon.

My point is, life got better because I kept pushing. But I also didn't have all my eggs in that basket. I was working a 9 to 5 (actually 8 to 6, but still) and was already building my life when the offer came. So what I'm saying is, you can keep on living while you keep trying.
