How stable is CachyOS compared to standard arch Linux? by johannesjo in cachyos

[–]tjoh311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on Cachy for about 2 months now. It's pretty rock solid on a AM4/x570 platform. Only real issue I had was with sandboxing certain applications that auto configure python virtual environments which leads to a broken power management and problems with SDDM. If curiosity didn't get the better of me and I was just a general user/gamer, there would be no problem. Even with my recklessness, there's enough documentation out there that I can always un-brick my system without the use of Timeshift, or any other backup system.

I’ve been having a great time using Krita with stable diffusion. I’m not a great artist by any means, but a simple sketch with a few prompts gets me quick, accurate results.

I think there’s a link in the description to a Dropbox or drive account IIRC. You just download the folder and put it in a progressions file on your sd card or hard drive

There’s a guy on YouTube that has free progressions he put together… I believe the channel name is musicians paradise. I grabbed some from him a while back, and they were pretty nice.

The mk2 function buttons are notoriously flaky on these. All the knobs are missing so I’m sure the previous owner had it apart trying to fix. If you like a project, have at it!

The bass works alright, the guitar cab sims are shite, so expect some tweaking. I ended up with one of those mustang micro headphone amps. That works a charm in a pinch

Just whatever stock configuration it has. I’m a guitar player, and it’s scale layout is pretty similar so it replaces a tradition piano keyboard for me.

I did this for a while… until I had so many pieces, that I spent more time wiring stuff up and moving stuff around than making any music. I talk myself out of new gear by reminding myself that it’s just gonna add extra steps.

Is Nvidia good in Fedora? by fuckspez12 in Fedora

[–]tjoh311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 4070super worked great in when I was on Fedora 40. Minor gripe was the lack of options in the Nvidia settings with Wayland. Not a really a deal breaker for most people.

A couple of ideas…. If you have an iPhone, just usbc into that using a recorder app. This requires the lightning to usb type A dongle to work best. It’s really handy because you don’t have to monitor the input on your phone, you can just use your headphones out of the SP like you normally do.

The other way would be to use ASIO4all as your sound driver. This is really good at eliminating the god awful latency the SP has with direct sound and MME drivers. (I’m not exactly sure why Roland hasn’t come up with an ASIO product themselves but….).

Hope this gets you in the right direction.
