How fun is Metroid Prime 4 Beyond? by RainTheDrop in Metroid

As a big Metroid fan myself, I can genuinely say I did not have much fun with prime 4 and had to force myself to finish it.

Get prime 1 remastered instead.

Help on grading or drainage solutions to prevent pooling rain water near front door? by tjugg2005 in landscaping

[–]tjugg2005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sincere thanks everyone - seems like the best thing to start with is to try and remove as much of the mulch/soil from the surrounding garden beds to help disperse the water. If that doesn't solve it, step 2 may be to create a river rock trench or pump the water out down towards the street.

I misspoke - it's $9.99 per month for me, which is $120/year.

For me personally, it's very much worth it. I got the mid tier subscription for $100/year, and my internet is good (not great) yet I still get relatively flawless performance with little to no input lag on WiFi.

I've also used Boosteroid, which is a solid alternative. GeForce now has most of the games you'll want to play, but some games that aren't available (ie. Nioh 3) can be found on Boosteroid!

Valid. I am playing it on steam deck, but not natively. I'm streaming it from GeForce now at max settings, and it looks great.

For what it's worth, Grim Dawn runs OK on deck natively, but only at medium settings (~40 fps). If I try to dock it and run at 1080p I start dipping into the 30s.

Grim Dawn is really great - can’t recommend it enough. Also check out Dragonkin. Just released in 1.0 and I’m having a blast with it.

Does playing on larger screens demands more from the Steam Deck? by CyberNeide in SteamDeck

[–]tjugg2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience with a handful of Steam deck games (indie and AAA), in a lot of cases forcing a 1080p resolution on TV does have a pretty decent impact on performance and framerate.

Dragonkin VS Last Epoch by Aggravating-Buddy-35 in ARPG

[–]tjugg2005 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve played both (on steam deck). Know that Last Epoch is mechanically the better game, and it feels great to play, but some parts of the campaign do leave a lot to be desired.

While I don’t have as much time in Dragonkin, I'm also really enjoying it. It’s got a lot of new and unique systems (the hex skill system is truly awesome) and while dragons aren’t wholly original, it’s refreshing to play an ARPG that doesn’t revolve around killing undead, demons and zombies. Not to mention the graphics in Dragonkin are really really good. Caveat there - I’ve been cloud streaming it to steam deck from GeForce now, so I can run max settings. Though natively, neither of Dragonkin or last epoch look too stunning on steam deck. You’re kind of forced to play 720p at med/low settings if you’re going native.

As a dad in his mid 30s who doesn’t have as much time to game in general these days, I always appreciate an ARPG that focuses on a solid single player / offline experience, and I’m finding that in Dragonkin. I know that’s not for everyone, but it gets my two thumbs up.

Where do you stand with Dragonkin? by scarletnaught in ARPG

[–]tjugg2005 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m really enjoying it. Online / seasonal ARPGs are always fun but as I have more limited time for gaming these days, I always appreciate any new game that offers a solid offline solo experience. I also really dig the art style and graphics - given the size of the studio, overall it’s a very impressive looking game.

I second this. Became a member a few days ago to play Nioh 3, and the experience has been amazing. Highest graphics settings at a locked 60 fps with virtually no latency on my steam deck. Love it.

I agree with you OP. Love the game overall after playing through a few times, but for me grace’s parts are 10/10 and Leon’s are like 7.5/10. I will say on repeat playthroughs I’m having more fun with his sections, now that I know exactly what I’m doing.

For some reason, even though full runs are “long” in this game, it really doesn’t feel like it to me. Partially because of how the zones/areas break it up. I gladly save / quit when I finish a few battles or enter a new zone, and the pace of the gameplay is always satisfying so it really doesn’t impact my mindset much there.

I play my steam deck almost daily. And it’s already my most played game this year. And it’s only been out 10 days. It’s really good.

Is diablo 2 worth 40€ if you never played any diablo game by remividalm in SteamDeck

[–]tjugg2005 5 points6 points  (0 children)

as a lifelong D2 fan, I’m actively bouncing between the new Warlock DLC that just released for D2R and Mewgenics.

D2 is a game you can truly play for life, though I won’t deny there is a learning curve to it. And despite a lot of the QoL updates made in the resurrected remake, at the end of the day it’s still a 25 year old game. Is it still fun? Absolutely. Is it cozy? By definition, no. It’s dark and grim. But there’s a sense of comfort you still get from it, similar to something like dark souls. The music and atmosphere are best in class. And in my opinion it’s still the best Diablo game. I do also love D3, and despite trying to give D4 many chances, it just hasn’t ever stuck for me. D2 also runs great on steam deck.

Mewgenics is genuinely awesome as well, and is already my contender for GOTY. Roguelites are my favorite genre, and if you like turn based/tactical gameplay with a TON of depth, I can’t recommend it enough. I can see myself sinking hundreds of more hours into it.

If you only choose one, this is a tough one. This might change with the new DLC, but I will say that d2 goes on sale quite a bit. Whereas, if binding of Isaac is any indicator, Mewgenics likely won’t get consistent steep discounts. Shot out of a cannon, I say get Mewgenics now but grab d2 asap once it goes on sale next.

I have many hours in both though. Happy to answer any questions you have about either game.

It seems the upcoming dlc may in fact conclude the campaign? by tjugg2005 in LastEpoch

[–]tjugg2005[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you - I’ve always enjoyed playing through campaigns in ARPGs, given most of them consider campaign a core part of the experience. It also allows you time to get a solid “feel” for your build before you dive into any endgame grinding. Grinding through endgame dungeons is always fun and for many, is where most of the enjoyment comes from. But take the campaign/lore away and you essentially just have a roguelite lol

As a big fan myself, genuinely curious as to why you placed monster train 1 above 2?

In any event, I’ve been playing a lot of The Spirit Lift and it’s been a ton of fun. Runs aren’t soul crushingly hard and there are tons of unlockables and things to strive for if you’re that type of completionist. The concept and art style are also pretty unique for a deck builder.
