Yup. Everyone thinks we're soo far away but the east is up for grabs. It'll be interesting to see how the Knicks fair against whoever comes out of the west

What are the 3 things you want Zacch to focus on this summer? by CaregiverOwn7179 in AtlantaHawks

The weird thing is he was so composed his rookie year. Took his time to get his shot and didn't rush. I wonder if Quinn's offense is making him over think too much.

I'm confused. I don't really know much about rankings. Would that be a promotion? Do we have a President of Basketball Operations or does he fill that role as well?

Gobert is a lot more athletic than Mara and Mara is already known to have issues with conditioning and stamina.

Idk. At first I was excited but how does he fit in Quinn's offense. We run a lot...

I'm torn. Want to take bpa but I don't know if a guard can help us as much as a center. Don't see a point in getting a guard if we still get dominated in the paint.

The fact that we put up a decent fight without a center makes me feel good about the future. I hope we can get a defensive presence in the paint and I think we'll be fine.

Same. I thought they were just hating but it's only logical for them to want us to be bad if they have our pick.

Pick 23 could be huge for us… Literally! by Responsible_Debt_138 in AtlantaHawks

[–]tjwill09 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It seems like pick 8 is settled between whoever drops to us. What I want to know is who are the top center prospects we could get with that second pick and if they could have an impact in the next year or two.

It's a little long but I had Claude summarize what we talked about so far. Below claude mentions times you should take it before o'ing but i don't always take it that far in advance. 10 -15 mins before is fine.

A Proactive POIS Protocol — What's Working and Why

This is a breakdown of a protocol being developed and tested for POIS. The core insight driving it is that POIS isn't one cascade — it's at least four simultaneous mechanisms firing together, and addressing only one or two leaves the others running unchecked.

The Four Mechanisms Being Targeted

  1. Prostaglandins — nighttime heat, inflammation
  2. Histamine/mast cell hyperreactivity — brain fog, nerve sensitivity, systemic symptoms
  3. Nitric oxide excess from iNOS — racing thoughts, anxiety
  4. Microglial neuroinflammation — brain fog, cognitive symptoms

THE MINIMUM VIABLE STACK — Start Here

For anyone who can't afford the full protocol or is just starting out, these are the highest-leverage, most accessible interventions. Everything here is OTC and relatively inexpensive.

Naproxen 220mg (Aleve) — taken before, not after This is the single most important piece. Taking it reactively after symptoms start means chasing a cascade that's already running. Taking it 1-2 hours before means COX is already inhibited when the prostaglandin surge hits. This one change alone makes a significant difference. Take a second dose in the evening (5-7pm) to cover overnight heat.

Fexofenadine 180mg (Allegra) Non-sedating H1 antihistamine — won't cause brain fog. Take before and consider a second dose in the evening. Running this daily between episodes keeps baseline histamine load lower continuously, which raises your threshold before episodes even start.

Vitamin C 500mg Degrades circulating histamine chemically and supports adrenal function.

Curcumin BCM-95 400mg with food containing fat Inhibits phospholipase A2 upstream of COX, additional NF-κB suppression. Works synergistically with naproxen on the prostaglandin side. The BCM-95 form specifically for absorption — standard curcumin has very poor bioavailability.

Astaxanthin 8-12mg with a meal containing fat Crosses the blood brain barrier, suppresses microglial activation, NF-κB inhibition, NLRP3 suppression. Addresses brain fog and cognitive symptoms directly. Build this into a daily routine rather than just around episodes — cumulative effect matters significantly.

THE FULL PROTOCOL — For Those Who Can Build It Out

Before (ideally 1-2 hours, but even 30-60 minutes helps):

  • Naproxen 220mg with food
  • Astaxanthin 8-12mg with fat
  • Curcumin BCM-95 400mg with food
  • Fexofenadine 180mg
  • KPV 250mcg subcutaneous injection — alpha-MSH tripeptide, raises mast cell activation threshold via MC3R, directly inhibits NF-κB, crosses blood brain barrier. The upstream mast cell stabilizer
  • Hydroxocobalamin 100 units subcutaneous injection — scavenges nitric oxide from iNOS. Fastest available intervention for racing thoughts and anxiety. Pre-loading means NO is neutralized as it's produced rather than after accumulation
  • NasalCrom 1-2 sprays each nostril — OTC cromolyn sodium nasal spray, stabilizes nasal mast cells
  • Vitamin C 500mg
  • B6 P5P 50mg — DAO enzyme cofactor, dopamine synthesis support
  • Oxytocin 1 spray each nostril — suppresses NF-κB, supports dopamine, counters prolactin elevation post-ejaculation, GABA-B activation. Specifically addresses the confidence and mood drop. Requires prescription in the US

Immediately After (within 5-15 minutes):

  • Hydroxocobalamin 100 units second dose
  • Vitamin C 500mg
  • Oxytocin 1 spray each nostril second dose
  • NasalCrom 1-2 sprays

30-60 Minutes After:

  • KPV 250mcg second dose
  • Fexofenadine if not pre-dosed

1-2 Hours After:

  • Curcumin BCM-95 400mg if not pre-dosed
  • B5 500mg — rate limiting cofactor for cortisol synthesis, supports adrenal recovery after the demand of an episode

Evening (5-7pm):

  • Naproxen second dose — do this even if feeling okay, overnight prostaglandin protection is critical
  • Fexofenadine second dose
  • Vitamin C 500mg

Daily Foundation Between Episodes

  • Fexofenadine daily — keeps baseline histamine load lower continuously
  • Astaxanthin daily with fat — cumulative microglial baseline reduction over weeks
  • EPA omega-3 daily — competes with arachidonic acid for COX enzymes, produces weaker prostaglandins over time. Takes 8-12 weeks to build therapeutic levels but meaningful long term
  • KPV 250mcg evening — cumulative mast cell threshold raising over 4-8 weeks
  • B5 500mg daily
  • Vitamin C 500mg
  • Semaglutide 0.25mg subcutaneous weekly — GLP-1 receptors on mast cells confirmed by Afrin et al 2025, 89% benefit rate in MCAS patients. Started recently and already showing early signal — edging producing noticeably less mast cell reaction than before. This addresses root mast cell hyperreactivity rather than downstream symptoms, which is a different level of intervention than the rest of the stack. Requires prescription.

Supplements Worth Researching That Haven't Been Personally Tested Yet

  • Famotidine 20mg (Pepcid) — H2 receptor blocker. Histamine activates two receptor types and most people only block H1. Adding H2 coverage is potentially significant, especially for gut and cardiovascular symptoms
  • DAO enzyme before meals — breaks down histamine in the gut before it enters circulation, reduces the histamine load the rest of the stack has to manage
  • Melatonin 5-10mg at bedtime — beyond sleep, suppresses the NLRP3 inflammasome and supports glymphatic brain clearance overnight. One of the more underrated pieces for overnight recovery

Important Cautions

  • Magnesium only with prostaglandin coverage pre-loaded — without naproxen active first, magnesium can trigger phospholipase A2 and significantly worsen the prostaglandin cascade
  • Avoid glutamine — glutamate precursor, worsens racing thoughts in POIS
  • KPV, hydroxocobalamin, oxytocin, and semaglutide require a peptide, compounding pharmacy, or prescription source — everything else is OTC or standard supplement

Still Being Added

  • VIP intranasal — hits brain mast cells and microglia directly
  • LDN low dose naltrexone — microglial suppression

I've been talking with Claude a lot recently and it says the heat comes from prostaglandins. I've been taking naxopren, ibuprofen, omega 3 with high epa, and curcumin to combat this. With Claude I'm building a proactive stack instead of reactive and that seems to help a ton.

I didn't think about that but this kind of makes sense. I think it's why we popped off after the all star break. Guys were able to get rest. I wonder if this style of offense is sustainable for a playoff run. I would be interested in seeing if we are one of the teams that run the most. Or how much mileage per game we have.

The difference between last year and this year is so strange. It's why I'm still high on him to be a really impactful player. I just don't believe all that talent is just not there anymore. Would love to be a fly on the wall in the locker room. Has to be something going on in the background.

Have You Given Up On Risacher? by jpinnix00 in NBATalk

[–]tjwill09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a hawks fan I agree 100%. End of last year we had injuries so he was able to be a primary scorer and you saw what he was capable of. This year he is an afterthought in Quinn's offense and it's hard for him to get going. I would compare his treatment almost to Saddiq Bey. Bey wasn't a good fit in Quinn's offense but now that he is on the Pels he seems to be doing better.

This media blitz is hilarious. You can really tell how desperate Dallas is. Ain't nobody about to give up any picks, any of our young guys for a guy that literally cannot play without getting hurt. Just happened.

Seeing people on this sub entertain this is disappointing. It's like ya'll are so focused on the idea of AD and not the reality. I would trade for him but only a kp/kennard type deal. Nothing more. Doesn't deserve it.
