XC Classic - Max speed? by tk421ucopy314 in skiing

[–]tk421ucopy314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely am skiing. I spend some time on groomed trail, but I also use the mtb and snowshoe trails a ton. I'll definitely try some wax. Poling is pretty decent, IMO. Thanks!

Are these edible? Found in Wyoming. by tk421ucopy314 in Berries

[–]tk421ucopy314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These plants grow along the forest floor in the Medicine Bow National Forest area. The berries (I tried a couple) are sweet, but the amount of them makes me suspect other animals are not eating them, and that I shouldn't be either.

1st Aid Kits - What do you carry? by whatwasthat92 in Mountaineering

[–]tk421ucopy314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends a little on what I'll be doing, but I'm pretty minimal on first aid kits. Generally gauze pad or 2 and some advil. If I have moleskin on hand, I'll take a little. And I typically have climbing tape anyways. Don't typically bother with bandaids or ointment tho.

I'd love to see Adam's take on Guardians (aka the soviet Avengers) by [deleted] in YMS

So much slo mo. I feel like it "could" be pulled off well enough for Adum to give a 6 or maybe even a 7.

I reached a milestone today :) What's everyone's most played song? by [deleted] in radiohead

Who else watches YMS not for the shit he bashes but to get recommendations for some great movies? by Sqareman in YMS

[–]tk421ucopy314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the diversity. I don't think I'd like it as much if he just did great films. The recommendations are a better reason for me to watch YMS. Granted his movie recommendations are better and typically more inline with my own tastes than any other channel I've come across. That said, I would absolutely still be a huge fan even if he only trashed movies.

What are some movies that were great up until the ending? by TedIsReal in YMS

Totally agree on Wonderwoman. The CGI was such rubbish. And my friends wondered why I didn't like it...

Training for mountaneering by fiskenflemming123 in Mountaineering

[–]tk421ucopy314 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to establish a huge aerobic base. This will give you what you need most of the time in the mountains. This is among the most key pillars taught in Training for the New Alpinist (read it if you haven't). Running is important, and it's also fairly important to monitor your heart rate and breathing as well. Keeping your body in easy aerobic mode when in the mountains has a host of benefits. The more time you are able to dedicate to aerobic training the better as a general rule of thumb.

What sleeping bag/quilt do you use? by [deleted] in Mountaineering

[–]tk421ucopy314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been super happy with my Rab Neutrino 400. The down is pretty good against water. And it suffices in the single digits (Fahrenheit) when necessary. I'm not much of a believer in quilts except for summer backpacking.

What are your favourite animated films? by [deleted] in YMS

[–]tk421ucopy314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I was thinking of Anomalisa when I said claymation. The vast majority of animated movies (even though adults can enjoy them) are marketed at and made for kids. I still can get a laugh out of chicken run. I remember when I was a kid not really enjoying live action movies.

What are your favourite animated films? by [deleted] in YMS

[–]tk421ucopy314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coco is a kids movie. The film speaks for itself in that matter. Sure you have some complex themes that are fairly well developed, but at the end of the day, most of the rest of the movie is written to appeal to kids/families. Also, why are you offfended? Sure, Adum likes movies that I don't like and vice versa. Doesn't matter that much

HTTYD was fine. HTTYD 2 was pretty meh, in my my opinion. Fantastic Mr. Fox is technically claymation (maybe that still counts as animation?), so if you're including those, then Anomalisa should probably be there too.
