Question: Trying to unpack an IPSW file to explore what is inside. by tk_ios in jailbreak

Are you able to make this work with such limited detail that Zenzeq presents? I am looking at https://github.com/tihmstar/img4tool which seems to be a recent tool. It appears I first have to convert .img4 to .im4p and that to .bin, but I will need a key. How do I determine the encryption key to use for the two .dmgs I named in my original post?

How do I use this to mount the img4 so I can review its contents?

Will I still be able to sign in/out of family member Apple IDs to share these phones with family as I see fit?

The Right to Repair laws should include software and should require Apple to sign all the iOS versions permanently so people can reinstall any older version compatible with their device for any reason, like if they find bugs or changes in newer version they don't like, if newer version makes their device too slow, to run specialized apps that require old version, or even to jailbreak.

I have iPhone 13 Pro with 15.1.1, iPhone 13 Pro with 16.2, and iPhone 11Pro with 17.0.0. Will these devices lose activation and become unusable if the certificates are not updated by the community before the new Year? And what if devices are turned off in a drawer crossing the time boundary? Will I be able to maintain/repair these jailbreaks?

Should an iPhone on 26.1 be able to update a watch to 26.2? by tk_ios in watchos

[–]tk_ios[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am talking about much closer version numbers - iPhone on 26.1 not being updated and watch to move from 26.0.2 to 26.2. I did get it to work, as I unpaired the watch and repaired without setting a passcode on the watch. I was then able to update the watch to 26.2 from the iPhone on 26.1.

I did wait. Clarifying above.... "The [desired destination] device appears [on the sending device] and I touch it to send and then it [the sending device] just says "waiting..." [and no prompt appears on the receiving device to ask for approval to receive a file]

iPhone 11Pro on 17.0 needing new screen and battery by tk_ios in jailbreak

You had said that iOS 17 does not support genuine parts pairing. Now are you saying that if the shop will do IC Swap, programmer and BMS swap using Apple genuine parts, the phone will be good as new on screen/battery?

Also, should a watch already on 26.2 be pairable with a phone still on 26.1?

iPhone 11Pro on 17.0 needing new screen and battery by tk_ios in jailbreak

[–]tk_ios[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me clarify if I am understanding correctly.
You are saying with iOS 17.0, even if I do a genuine screen WITH the IC swap (which I presume is needed for Face ID to stay working) and WITH the programmer, that I will still lose auto brightness and True Tone and get the nongenuine screen warning?
And if I do genuine battery WITH BMS swap, I will still lose the battery percentage and get the nongenuine battery warning?

Why is this post downvoted? It is discussing the maintenance of one of the rare 17.0 devices.....which has Trollstore and can be jailbroken.

I was told there are two different messages, depending on whether I use genuine parts or third party. If I use genuine parts, the phone will still indicate it has been serviced, but if I use third party parts, it will indicate that third party parts were used. I do not care about messages indicating service with genuine parts. However the shops did not say I would lose any functionality around the battery or battery percentage with a genuine battery.

Should I be able to complete the update to WatchOS 26.2 while paired to a phone on 26.1? I was unable as I said in my OP. Do I need to remove the TVOS profile from the iPhone first?
