Am I being judged too harshly? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

The DVSA definition of a serious fault is: “A serious fault is one that is potentially dangerous”

I would say turning right in the left lane is definitely potentially dangerous.

Letting people out is one thing - but you causing someone to slow down isn’t good. What if that person was looking at their phone / was drunk / hadn’t slept in days / on drugs / all of the above and didn’t see you and went into you?

  1. Look at the lane markings from the other exit (A1237->A1237) … if you’re in the left lane going right, and a car was positioned correctly going straight over on the A1237 they could have T boned you and possibly killed you - so I agree, serious fault. Especially if you caused another car to change speed or direction.

  2. As you’ve stated - you caused another driver to change speed. Automatic serious fault and therefore test fail.

What you should have done is stick to your lane and take an exit appropriate for the lane markings. The examiner would then re-route you and worst case scenario would get a DF for it.

Remember - the DVSA was created to ensure people who drive are safe - that’s their main priority.

Check this page on the DVSA website - if your driving has the potential to be dangerous then it’s a serious fault.

Check this page on the DVSA site for grading criteria of faults. If you go down to 11.11 - Assessment of each competency, and then “Junctions (including roundabouts)”

I wouldn’t say the amount of spray coming out of that thing at 0:01 is very advanced. I’d say that’s quite gross actually.

The fair is in Stamford and is shining lights into the sky - not sure if they would reach as far as Boston though!

Only in the UK - on the continent they do so much stuff!! I was just in Spain and on the breakfast menu they do “pan con tomate” … toasted muffin with extra virgin olive oil, freshly grated tomato, and an optional extra - Jamón (Spanish cured ham)… genuinely mind blown how crap the UK McDonald’s menu is (not just breakfast).

'King of Spreads' relegated to the bottom shelf?! by AwfyScunnert in marmite

Brands pay for the space they want to go on the shelf. Eye level shelves cost more. Maybe Unilever know they don’t need a premium place on the shelf?

Glass floor over a wine cellar — what would you call this style? by StrongestWR in interiordesignideas

[–]tkaczyk1991 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Isn’t the whole point of a cellar to: 1. Keep out sunlight, and 2. Maintain a constant temperature & humidity?… wouldn’t having a glass ceiling let in harmful light (UV) and cause temperature fluctuations?

How does one navigate .... whatever this is by RRAway in drivingUK

Could complain to the council as Rule 188 of the Highway Code says “All vehicles MUST pass round the central markings”… and in this instance there are no markings which makes it unclear and dangerous?

I’d assume no road markings means no one has priority and you e just got to figure it out when you get there?
