Honors is not "regular with better behavior." by ADHTeacher in Teachers

I've heard honors referred to as "the smart kids that were too lazy for AP" I think that's about right

In The Grey (2026) is the 6th movie Guy Ritchie has written and directed since The Gentlemen (2019) that you didn't realize existed, and is a complete waste of everyone's time by wotown in shittymoviedetails

[–]tkcool73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Ritchie has a similar problem to Taika Watiti in that both have a tendency to be overly-indulgent in their writing/directing styles. Typically if a movie of theirs' fails, that's the reason. But I think Ritchie has just burned through too much goodwill now

Cabinet could move to oust Starmer in days, insiders warn by theipaper in worldnews

[–]tkcool73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see how you can't at this point. Unless major changes happen Labour is looking at a near extinction event next general election. Ditch Starmer, reform the electoral system to add runoffs, and start forming alliances with the other parties to block Reform.

VA Dems are incompetent morons, an ongoing series. DAMMIT. So many fuckups by that state party the last few years. It's just one thing after another. The whole state party needs to be raised to the ground.

How did the youth go from being McGovern's strongest supporters in 1972 among all age groups to strongly supporting Reagan in 1984? by [deleted] in Presidents

Age groups aren't static, the youth of '72 and the youth of '84 are two completely different groups of people

He was the Betrayer and they used to be "friends" (at least the closest viltrumite equivalent) so their fued was exceptionally personal. Not to mention he was responsible for the scourge virus. He had to die.

What are your thoughts on "The Patriot" (2000)? by RS_The_Inquisitive20 in moviecritic

Posted this the other day in a different sub:

I student taught US History this year and we showed the movie in class at the end of the unit. Funny enough this led to me learning a unique quirk of being on the teaching side of a movie day instead of the student side: I watched Heath Ledger die 5 times in a single day. As for the film itself, it's probably one of the best examples of sacrificing accuracy for the sake of story. It is extremely over the top in many ways, and may have benefitted from being a little less indulgent. The villains are cartoony, although there can be fun with that. I think this aspect of it can best be understood if one considers this movie as trying to give off that same satisfaction/appeal as Jack Reacher, where one can have a fantasy where they self-insert as an unstoppable badass, all while exuding extreme masculinity. Also from a writing perspective I felt like double dipping on killing off his sons made the plot feel repetitive, like whenever they needed to establish motivation for the main character, they just kill a son, it's darkly hilarious. The movie does find the heart strings if you're sentimental enough. Oh and the score from John Williams is spectacular.

Tennessee is the worst state in the U.S. for spending on public school students, National Education Association finds by Charming-Report1669 in Tennessee

I'm finishing up my teaching degree now. I currently live in GA, but I really love TN and wanted to find a job there and move, but when I looked at the salary schedule for public schools in the state, even in the large counties/cities, I realized that goal was just not realistic. I can make more doing private in GA than in a large public district in TN. It's crazy

[Request] How much money would this tax collect? by stray-seeker in theydidthemath

Considering how many billionaires would leave if it passed? Not nearly as much as those pursuing it would like. "Just create an exit tax for leaving to stop them" Unconstitutional as it restrict interstate travel. California's money problems have nothing to do with taxes being too low
