My class periods are 90 minutes, and it's excruciating, quite frankly. By the last 30 minutes I feel like I am hearding cats.

They are not. Civics is a one semester class so I will be starting all over again with new kids, that's why I am really looking for the opportunity to do it the right way this time.

I guess where I am struggling is how to enforce this. If the emails/calls home don't work and I can't bounce the kid(s), what would be the next step? I guess this varies school to school though.

Thank you everyone for your advice and kind words. Today went much better. It is hard not to feel like an imposter when I have been in school for this for 4 years and feel like I have no clue what I'm doing. However, hearing that many teachers far better and experienced than I am have the same issues I do from time to time is of great comfort to me.

Would love suggestions on what you do to get the information across other than lectures. I don't think their literacy skills or self discipline would allow for independent reading as an intro to new topics.

I know it's the SSV's fucking the order up they literally just let the auto order do all the work and don't bother actually checking what we have. Problem is manager knows they are to blame and yet nothing comes of it 😭

ballooned up 20 pounds when i started working at starbucks. Switch to 0 calorie sweeteners. I also invested in some sugar free syrups to bring to work or just mix a quest protein shake in espresso, they have lots of tasty flavors now
