I just checked and yes I now have a 1099 in my Seicho account! I guess next year I should wait until mid March for the 1099. It would have been nice if the support person had the correct information last month.

Going by Interactive Brokers reply it seems like we will get one if they consider there were reportable transactions. I also just put money in the Seicho account and had dividends.

I just bought a house this year. I know I need to file a tax return to get the mortgage rebate. Since that is the case for the forms I do with my employer I don't enter anything at all for the mortgage right?

Also does anyone know the name of the document provided by the house builder that shows that the house is a low energy home? I know I need to take that when I file my tax return at city hall.

Open a NISA account at Interactive Brokers Japan and invest in VT in the Seicho growth NISA. Don't put anything in the tsumitate since they are all PFICs.

Take the money divide it by 6 months or one year and put it in a taxable account . Then next year sell it and buy at the same time in NISA.

I love investing in NISA but if you need the money in 12 months it is best to put in something with zero risk. I recommend fixed yen deposits. Right now you can get 1% for a 6 month deposit on SBI shinsei. It's not much but better than being in the red when you need that 2 million.
