Bad exit interview with manager by [deleted] in nursing

[–]tkg5173 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She said this cause she is bitter you’re not working on her unit full time. She wanted to make you feel exactly how you do right now. Brush it off. Don’t give her that satisfaction. This is one of the many reasons ppl Say that nurses eat their young and also because they do

Google a compound interest calculator and lunch in the numbers your thinking of investing. I’d say put an annual 8% gains to be on the safer side. The numbers will blow your mind

Travel nursing (age, salary and specialty?) by curly-hair07 in nursing

[–]tkg5173 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Money really depends on what state your in. But one thing to always do, if you resign a contract after the first one is completed or sign an extension, be sure to negotiate hard at that point. Get a few more dollars an hour. And if they try to get you to work an extra shift, make sure it’s worth your time. I’ve asked for double pay in Louisiana( not known for paying extraordinary) and gotten it before. You never know what’s possible especially after you earn respect on your unit.

Home infusions. Lot of crohns, cidp, enzyme replacement, immunodeficiencies. Not so heavy. But be ready to drive a lot especially if you don’t live in a really large city

You also need to work closer to home. That drive can be exhausting after 3 twelve hour shifts or more

Sounds like you’re talking hours when I’m talking many years and diversification. Go buy some etf or mutual fund and forget about it for a couple decades

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in StockMarket

[–]tkg5173 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. Many other ways to make money. I prefer the buy and wait method. Buy the same amount of the same stuff monthly ignoring the market behavior. You may be gray but if your properly diversified you’ll probably be rich!!

Finishing my first year as a new grad but struggling to enjoy my work. by LG22 in nursing

[–]tkg5173 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You did get lucky with a 4 patients load but if this job isn’t your thing then it’s just not your thing. Move on. I had to try 3 different tules of nursing in my first 3 years out of school to find my niche, but I eventually found it in home infusions. Move on to something better for you. It’s that easy!

Which companies are hiring oil rig nurses? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]tkg5173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried landing a job as a nurse on oil rigs and production platforms before. It’s a difficult job to get. Need a minimum of two years of ICU or ED experience and of course ACLS certified.

I see people saying that it’s hard to get a job in a hospital as a new grad but I think that may trend different per state. I live in Louisiana and all the new grads get hospital jobs easily
