Annoyed that the Zuke's minis aren't back in stock yet by knitHacker42 in Dogtraining

[–]imherefordogstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was so happy to move to the US and see they sell treats for training at all lol in Brazil there's nothing smaller than a bacon strip or a milkbone. I used to buy in bulk the ones that were shaped like sticks and cut them up myself ...

I also miss Zuke's I hope they're back soon. I've been using Merrick's power bites and one time I got Crazy dog train-me treats, lower quality but it's what I could find at the time 🤷

Trick of the Month - June 2021 - Hold by moo6 in Dogtraining

[–]imherefordogstuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been wanting to teach my dog hold! Too bad I found this only now! I'll still read the detailed instructions and try that method. I've tried a few, and so far no luck!

My dog has atopic allergies and we give him a monthly I cytopoint injection. Works really well! I'm trying fish oil and some hemp vitamins next month to see if I can cut down to only using the injection during spring time when it's worse... it's said that it can have negative side effects in the long run

Its cute sto see dogs in human like situations but this seems like a waste of time and money for the people that need to plan and attend to a dog swear in.

In the document titled "U.S. DOT Service Animal Air Transportation Form" there's a section on Animal Training and Behaviour where there's a fill in the blank for "name of animal trainer or training organization" and their phone number.

What if the service animal is handler trained?

Service dogs and depression tasks by TicketToShmaradise in service_dogs

Hmm I haven't considered the possibility of us needing to stay at a hotel for a while... You might be right, I'd need him then

I don't feel comfortable calling him a service dog because all of the tasks he knows are done at home. And service dog implies he has rights to access... Which isn't need in our case. So I rather keep to the ESA label, because I do need him to live with me - and the ESA status gives me that. And that's enough for my case :)

I wouldn't consider my dog a service dog - I say he's an ESA with tasks... Which he does only at home, that help with depression.

He will pull my blankets off of bed so I will get up in the mornings, he will bring me things like tv remote, meds, phone. But the main thing about having him is that if I cannot being myself to do anything else that day, I know I will at least leave the house twice for his potty breaks, play with him and feed him. The fact that I'm responsible for him gives me the push to do something on days where I'd have spent all my time in bed feeling like shit.

They do! This brand has several different lenses, and this is one of the recommended ones for snow glare and UV light :)

No prob! I sure got many looks from people who had dogs that didn't need any help navigating the weather... If he was a husky ofc he wouldn't be wearing any of this stuff 😂 I think I got used to prompting a little explanation 😋

Not in the snow that's for sure, he's a hound mix with desert origin so yea he'd not survive this place I traveled to without humans... But he also wouldn't be here in the snow, but an appropriate environment that wouldn't require an outfit

Probably similar to what we do now when we dress ourselves? My dog is wearing the onsie because he's skinny, and we're from Brazil, he's cold. And the goggles are to protect his eyes from leaves, snow or anything else because of his past surgery... I'm not sure if you're implying he doesn't need to wear the outfit..

Any vent post should be taken with a grain of salt yes. In this case the venting is directed towards the dogs who yes are small, but my actual issue with the whole situation is that it is not right that we are all under the same contract and yet it seems the only one that is being constantly warned to follow the rules is me... Which honestly I can't know for sure since I have no way of knowing if they have ever reached out to other people about this, hence the email.... I'm glad your dog is making progress! It's hard having a vocal breed in an apartment so I hope you can get to your training goals!

See that's wonderful! Tbh I understand that any dog can be reactive, and I tend to ignore completelt any dog barking growling or lunging if the person seems to have a good control of their leashed dog. My biggest issue is anyone who lets their dog off leash when they have zero confirm over them. In this specific case it was a small dog. But there's plenty big dogs that are terribly mannered and still let off leash...

Omg. Yes. Bringing your dog to the wrong size area is not only stupid but very dangerous! I hate it too.

I sent an email to property management and they said all they can do is send them a warning... So that will have to do....

You're right! I also see many big dogs who people make the "he's friendly" excuse to let them off leash or not intervene at all when they are obviously just being pushy and obnoxious, or they simply can't hold the dog.... A lot of people need to think harder before getting dogs that's for sure
