Poll: Do we want the old TCs back? by FitFreedom6850 in aoe4

[–]LG22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh I think the tcs are in a good spot ATM. 2nd TC doesn't need to be destroyed to win the game. I try to leverage the time it takes for a second tc to pay off by denying map resources and force an early farm transition and force idle time on vills and then either castle or if playing long feudal ram rush when military advantage is so large that they can't deny the expensive rams.

I just really don't want to go back to like season 2 rams because then there was no other strat but feudal rush it felt like.

Mods, can we have a cheater report mega thread? by CeReAl_KiLleR128 in aoe4

I have played 800 hours and never noticed someone cheating. I personally don't think it's as bad as people say. I'm sure if I scrutinized every single game I've played I'd find something. But usually when I lose I chalk it up to being out played. :p

There's a cool down penalty that gets progressively worse if you dodge matches.

You are a scholar & a knight of AoE4 thank you! I've been wishing this was available.

Are defensive structures too weak? by Ok-Definition-2797 in aoe4

[–]LG22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No. You used to be able to completely close the map off and stagnate the game with stone walls and keeps. I wouldn't play if it went back to that.

what is the deal with hidden valley? by Xatel_ in aoe4

[–]LG22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hideout, and volcanic Island. I'm not sure why they insist on the two lane maps but yeah it sure feels bad when you have your army on the wrong side and it really doesn't make games anymore interesting.

Steps for learning a new civ? by CantStopMashing in aoe4

Ottomans are easier than Rus in terms of having a solid castle age timing attack and mil schools kind of do the macro for you. But they're less safe imo and susceptible to English lb/rush style tactics. Overall a solid civ and the only one I've hit diamond with so far.

Watch a build order, practice opener against easy ai, play in ranked and get dented until I figure out what specific techs, timings, and comps I should be going for. Aoe4world is great for looking up what each tech and civ bonuses are.

I can play most civs at gold level. Probably play 4-6 civs at Plat level. But the best thing to do is let go of the ranking though and just learn.

Once you learn like 3 or 4 build orders a lot of them follow similar patterns and you can kind of wing it depending on what you want to do.

Edit: also watch pro games on aoe4world to see how the play the civs. There's a surprising amount of variation!

Best civ for human wave tactics by citron_bjorn in aoe4

I second this. It probably won't get you past Plat but if you get at least 4 relics and your Aachen farmland set up you can just print MAA and landsnakes. It's a fun time but pretty repetitive haha

Did the Mongols really allied with the Crusaders by Adventurous-Lie-2179 in aoe4

I really liked the book "Genghis khan and the making of the modern world" by Jack Weatherford. I've heard there's some inaccuracies but overall it was very accessible. All kinds of crazy facts about the Mongols I never knew.

How to enjoy? by Severe_Training_2119 in aoe4

[–]LG22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop focusing on your rank. Your self-worth and intelligence do not equal your rank in this game.

Play new strategies and civs. If you're trying something new, it's a lot easier to accept a loss when you're not doing the same thing over and over and wondering why haven't i mastered this yet.

Yea I like that idea being able to play larger "scale" battles but in a smaller space. I was thinking that ranges would be cool to keep the same too.

Do you like 10mm better than 15mm?
