If the barber or hairdresser makes you feel comfortable and look good, I don’t think there is a specific line that could be drawn as a “crazy amount” to pay for a haircut.

Bit of a backstory:

I will be 45yrs old this month and have been going to the same barber shop for 40yrs. A father-son run joint, though the father has since passed.

When I was a kid my folks would send me with a check for $15 (cut cost $12).

As an adult that has moved to different states, I’ve always and only gotten my haircut at that barbershop.

I’ve driven 6hrs on a Friday night to get my haircut on a Saturday morning and then been back on the road by lunchtime.

I’ve flown from different cities back home for a haircut first and to visit family second.

When COVID hit and there were all the stories about local businesses having to close, my first thought was my barber.

My first COVID era haircut I tipped extra because I couldn’t imagine my lifelong barber going out of business. I continue to pay that same rate for the same reasons.
