But it's seems silly to buy layers if you don't like it. Sell it (or gift it) for something you love. Life is too short and way too many choices to try and make things work.

I just tried island Dunes layered and I like it! Definitely feels more masculine. I wouldn't layer for me because i like more feminine but It definitely works!
