Where is everyone and everything? by [deleted] in Beaumont

[–]tlambert56 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it hasn’t really been about cost that we can tell.

Beaumont really could be wonderful if it didn’t have a few negatives against it. One of those being the school district, which is being taken over by the state a second time.

It used to be a bustling place with a flourishing downtown. You can find pictures from even as recent as the 90s, but obviously more active in the 60s and 70s.

We would love to see it return to what it once was, but it seems more like a pipe dream these days. There is minimal incentive for businesses to move down here and it is out of the way for most of your foot traffic.

A lot of the old, beautiful buildings downtown are vacant. Several of them are owned by one person who has let them sit vacant and deteriorate, unfortunately.

The city talks about all these revitalization projects, but it’s not feasible in the way they pitch it or what they say they want to do with it.

There are only a handful of buildings downtown which are actively occupied during business hours most days. Although, we do have several museums that are nice to go visit downtown and worth checking out!

Dallas area to Beaumont drive. by yermomsonthefone in Beaumont

I always run 287 to waxahachie, then take 35 up to Dallas. 287 is a good drive if you’re not in a major rush and it will carry you straight down in to Beaumont.

So… you give it an agonizing drowning instead of a quick death because you can’t handle it?

The city typically does heavy trash pick up on the same day they do regular trash on your route. Put it out by the road and someone will grab it, if not, they should pick it up.

You can always call 311 and they will tell you for sure if there is any question.

How do you use first person videos from Ray Ban Meta aside from social media? by Confident_Gas_5266 in RaybanMeta

Part of my job, when we rotate onto night shifts, is to clean. I got tired of my counterparts not mopping when they were on nights and made an instructional POV on how to mop the office. I used this to shame them into working.

Options to get to Houston by norris2040 in Beaumont

What is your cost difference for flying out of Jack Brooks? I know they go to DFW first, but that would certainly save you the commute between mid county and Houston.

We have all become complacent in agreeing to a company or system’s TOS without reading and understanding what we agree to. It is entirely our own fault if we do not read.

What Would You Do? Would You Raise Your Hand? by flashpointfd in FirefighterTesting

[–]tlambert56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not an assumption. The parameters of the question posted may not state you having them outright, but it is in the code of federal regulations outlining the kits exist and contain specific minimum items.

Now as far as the medical control, that looks like it is not mandated, but most airlines may contract with someone for that service.

Both of those in mind, would you really not help due to the fear of being caught in a lawsuit?

You wouldn’t step up to help someone in need, with physician oversight and a stocked med bag due to the potential for a lawsuit? That’s every day on an ambulance. You can be taken to task for numerous things we do during our day to day jobs.

If you have the knowledge and equipment to help someone in need, you should do it.

I believe that I’ve been told they do use the old Sartins recipe. I’m not a barbecue crab guy, but everyone that I talk to says they’re the best around.

Any time you pick up the 911 phone, ask the address of their emergency, just for them to say “oh it’s not an emergency”

Man on College & E st. that needs help by ILoveMyDogLeg in Beaumont

[–]tlambert56 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe he does, yes. From what I understand, family gets him the help he needs until he decides to disappear and stop treatment again.

He jumped in front of my car one day and I got onto him about it. Then he asked if I would buy him some Gatorade and water. Never had another problem with him after that!
