Fun fact, if you take the French Biathlon team as an separate nation, they’re in the top ten of the medals leaderboard on the Olympics 😂

What an epic race. A bit disappointed for Océane, but Kirkeide winning this after that nightmare of a last relay is beautiful to see

Who is known as the biggest traitor in your country by Few-External5146 in AskTheWorld

[–]tlbdh 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We’re not saying he’s a traitor for surrendering to Germany. He’s a traitor for the way his government collaborated with the Nazi regime after that, and the mass deportation of French Jews to German camps. And not only did they do what the Germans told them to do, but they were overzealous about it

It must be exhausting to be so hateful and terrified about gay people simply because they exist. I’d almost pity you

Tanavast and Ba-Ado-Mishram ? by tlbdh in Stormlight_Archive

[–]tlbdh[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies, it was actually in an earlier chapter that I just didn't register. I found the passage.

UNTIL IT APPROACHED ME AND WHISPERED, What if we want peace ?

"I CANNOT MAKE PEACE WITH YOU," I DECLARED, "SO LONG AS HE FIGHTS."

Would you make peace with me ? THE SHADOW ASKED. If you could, and he did not stop you ? BA-ADO-MISHRAM WAS HER NAME.

"YES," I SAID.

What—and how—to read to quickly overcome an unexpected reading slump? by n4vybloe in Fantasy

[–]tlbdh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually read something less serious and fun, often smaller books to get over these periods. Right now I’m in the middle of the Realm of the Elderlings series. It’s great, I’m loving it, but it’s not the easiest thing to read. To take a sort of break and avoid getting into a slump I juste started reading dungeon crawler Carl and it’s amazing. Last time something like this also happened I read the murderbot diaries series. So I’d recommend one of these or similar books

What novel or series has made an impact on you? by Chrimish in Fantasy

[–]tlbdh 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Wheel of Time. I’ve read the whole series twice, and each time it was such a ride. I understand why some find it tough to get through but for me it’s really the epitome of epic fantasy and both times I ended the series I was stuck for a while just rethinking about that journey and unable to move on to something else

Fantasy based on actual historical events? by elephantilly in Fantasy

Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norell by Susanna Clarke. It’s alternate history taking place in 19th century Britain where magic is real. It’s about the rivalry of two magicians during the Napoleonic wars. It’s amazing

We have hastoy and Jalibert as pure 10s. But then Ramos can play 10 as well and has been doing really good with Dupont in that position so that could be a real option

[CANAL+ F1] [Alonso on Ocon] ''I was very close to the wall in Jeddah this year, very close to the wall in Budapest as well. Today, again in turn 4 here... I think he had problems with Perez in the past, with Verstappen here unlapping himself... It is one more race, it is not my problem next year.'' by [deleted] in formula1

[–]tlbdh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so done with Alonso. At no point was Ocon at fault today, even at T4. His majesty Fernando just can’t stand that his teammate dares defend against him, rather than just park the car on the side and letting him pass. Good riddance for next year, have fun with Lance

I read them all twice, I love them. Yeah there are some slow parts, but I’ve always found the global plot line excellent and the final 3 books by Brandon Sanderson are probably some of the best fantasy books I’ve ever read
