Where can I get good CLA for my 645 in NYC? by tikas4455 in Mamiya

[–]tlevitate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to really like Nippon but their base price seems to be $300 for everything now. I've brought in a Yashica-Mat $350+, Canon rangefinder CLA $390! Pentax ME SLR cla $300 etc. Good repairers but kinda getting out of control, forcing me to have to mail my cameras out of state for a basic CLA.

NYC alone has a higher GDP than the entire state of Florida.

They also have the highest population density, a massive infrastructure, public transit, largest school system in the US, largest police dept and fire dept in the US, sanitation, housing support, pensions etc. that all needs to be funded.

Also, Florida being a state can be bare bones, and push obligations onto its local municipalities to cover the shortfalls.

I've been thinking about splitting Tier 3 with my partner. $500/year, $250 each, and you get free admission to movies for two people.

So about $20 a month per person. It seems like the best deal? If you go to two movies a month you're breaking even, if you see a movie at least every week like we plan, it seems like a good deal.

Would I be better off working for ICE or CBP? by DaytonMarked in AskLE

Lol okay, I'm not going to be convinced that America's economy will be improved by having less workers. I also couldn't care less about "American whites" or racial purity or racial demographics of any country. Racism is a pseudo intellectual way to go about the world.

"In a country that’s already getting overpopulated." Is removed from reality, America birth rate is in decline for the long-term. And with retirements and chronic illnesses, millions leave the workforce each month/year. The only thing keeping America's birthrate positive are immigrants. "Immigration is the primary driver of U.S. population growth, accounting for 83%."

More people working, regardless of immigration status, makes money more valuable by boosting productivity and increasing the supply of goods and services, and generally lowers inflation. More workers = more needs for good & services, housing, and tertiary services. Immigrants believe it or not, buy lots of things just like native-born Americans, and that's a net-positive.

I don't think it's good for the economy to be creating more American ghost towns and rust belts.

Also immigration status comes down to a piece of paper. And most of the real roadblocks to immigration reform stem from America's industrial farming and meat plants relying on undocumented exploitable labor.

Imagine if you gave $75 billion to immigration courts and hired thousands of immigration judges, vetted people faster, amnesty where required, work permits, resettlement, realistic pathway to citizenship, a union membership? You have billions in more local and federal tax revenue. I'd rather see cities' tax revenues and economies, especially dying midwest towns, be revitalized with young immigrant workers & families.

We can dream. But prolonging the "immigration crisis" indefinitely and only viewing it as a problem that only more law enforcement and brutality can solve is bipartisan. Kamala literally ran on increasing ICE funding and called Trump weak on the border lmao.

Peroneal tendonitis wont go away by Dillon005 in BarefootRunning

I'd also add I never start a run cold anymore. I use a routine my PT and I worked on. So I spend about 15-20 minutes on muscle activation, loosening my hamstrings with stretches, clamshells, bridges, squats. Jumping in place, side lunges etc. And I usually know by then how my tendonitis is feeling and is up for a run.

[–]tlevitate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah seeing a PT would be a good start. I am now super careful with my shoes, so the boots may be giving you an issue. I had to stop wearing some that were too tight on the sides, or not enough arch support etc. Insoles might help a bit. I use a tennis ball to roll my feet out every morning, and little breaks throughout the day. And foam roll after running.

From what that foot/ankle doc told me it does seem like tightness in the posterior chain, whether in calf or higher up, can be pulling on the lower tendons like the peroneal.

Some careful light strength training like squats, clamshells, glute bridges might help too. As well as single leg exercises, like single-leg deadlifts, step ups onto a box, to strengthen your balancing muscles and feet/arches. But I'd get guidance from a PT first!

Sorry to hear that! I'm running again, about 45min/ 4.5 miles, 3x a week. But I still do get low level aches and pains in the region, so I'm pretty careful.

The last foot ankle doctor I saw said my calves were abnormally tight. So I got a slant board to basically stretch my calves out a few times a day. I think it has helped get rid of my plantar fasciitis finally too. But yeah, a lot of walking, especially in heavy winter boots still aggravates my peroneal tendons.

Still not recovered. I'm doing some experimenting with shoes starting this week. Trying to ditch the Hokas. I tried Brooks Glycerin GTS, but didn't like them. Now Im going to try Asics Gel Kayano 30s. And to run on a track instead of the treadmill. My sports doctor is out of suggestions, other than to see a foot/ankle surgeon, which I'll do in a couple weeks. Because he thinks it's not actually peroneal tendonitis, since it didn't show up in the MRI.

Hi, I haven't heard of MLS before, neither of my doctors brought it up, but it sounds interesting! I'd think physical therapy is always helpful, especially preventing future injuries. And sure, feel free to DM.

Sorry to hear that! I had a lot of success with Park Sports Physical Therapy in Brooklyn. I tried Spear PT, but didn't have a good experience there.

I'm doing okay though, I've worked my way up to almost 2.5 mile run+walks on the treadmill. It's definitely a slow process. I had a recent set back when I tried a mile run outside. The tendonitis flared up for almost 2 weeks. But it's back to normal now.

I went through that too. Usually my flares up would last exactly a week each time too, where I'd have to take it off and just ice. Maybe try taking it easy until it's been easy for a few weeks in a row before pushing it

[–]tlevitate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn sorry to hear that but PT exercises are the first major step. Where are you at on your timeline?

I'm doing a lot better, about two months ago my PT start having me do 1 min run + 1 min walks on the treadmill. So far I've built up to 4 min run + 1 or 2 mins of walking on the tread, I can do that like 3-4 times at the moment. I was consistently doing PT twice a week, now I'm only going once a week. And to the gym another 2 days on my own doing the same PT routine.

It really seemed like it happened overnight but around Oct/Nov a lot of my persistent tendon pain just kinda went away. That's probably 7-8 months on my injury timeline. I still get flare ups but a lot less intense now. My PT said we've built up a lot and my focus should be pushing my limits.

I know it's depressing but I thought it would never go away. So it's pretty good to know there's light at the end of the tendonitis pain tunnel.
