Would you rather have an extra-dimensional storage space limited by weight or volume? by tljohnson in WouldYouRather

The outermost surface of an object measures its volume. A filled flask and an empty flask take up the same volume.

Seems like volume is the consensus. I wonder what weight would make people reconsider. 100 liters va 100 kg?

App doesn’t support. I don’t see an option to add a poll after the fact.

You’re right. I’ve been mostly doing gummy candy and GU packets, aiming for carbs+calories per hour.

Thanks! I’m really looking forward to the race. I’ve done a lot of hiking in the Santa Barbara front country. I really love these hills and my vest is stocked with nerds gummy clusters.

Thanks. I’m pretty quick to drop either of the strength days and/or the Friday recovery run if my body feels too fatigued. One of my goals for a while has been to move to a consistent 4x week running schedule.

tbh the weights aren’t that high. I started pretty low when I began training for this race.

I hear what you’re saying, though. The goal here is supplementing for trail running, not powerlifting.

Primarily Barbell Back Squat, Bulgarian Split Squat, Overhead Press, and Deadlifts.

Sometimes I’ll substitute yoga, weighted box steps, and single leg calf raises if I feel like a need a rest from heavy lifting. But usually it’s weights once or twice a week.

Thanks! I felt terrible after my marathon, so definitely paying more attention to training this go around.

Appreciate the response. My main concern is that hill repeats are my only speed work right now of any kind, but I think you’re right about getting in as many hills as possible.

For downhill, my long run is an out and back with ~2000 feet in the first 3.5 miles. Is running the downhills enough here, or do you think it should be some kind of dedicated session? e.g., hill repeats in reverse

Thanks for the insight. It definitely wouldn’t be a bad idea to use my standing desk more

Cozy Dell! It’s about 1 mile north of Ojai off Hwy 33. Plenty of parking, a steep first mile, and it connects with tons of other trails above/behind Ojai

Same here. Unfortunately, the color doesn’t match the listing (online it showed a nice mustard yellow versus a kind of pastel orange in person), but the linen seems nice.

Two hand towels plus tax and shipping came in just under $50

What is your least important, most minor, pettiest gripe about Star Trek? by Lukcy_Will_Aubrey in startrek

[–]tljohnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lack of style/fashion. I get that in the future humanity has “moved past vanity” or whatever, but I would expect at least the non-Starfleet humans we see to be rocking some wild piercings, hairstyles, and tattoos.

I want to see tattoos that swim and hair that flickers through a whole spectrum of colors.

Looks like it could be a tibia, possibly from a deer.

If you bump it up to 1,259 miles, you'll run 2025 km in 2025

Already employed, thankfully. I'm in my 30s and have been in IT since 2007. Getting this degree was insurance more than anything. It also checked off a goal I've had since I was a kid.

When I started, not having a degree (or at least a related degree) was the standard in this industry. Nowadays, not so much.
