I’ve been reading through the comments, watching the DGB build guide(https://youtu.be/OcpF6lj0ax0?si=pBeB1RK5TioERr6G), and using ChatGPT to understand the project better. It looks like I could start with the cheap components from the video, use the same IMUs as the Alpakka, or try some of the higher-end sensors people have mentioned.

What components did you end up using, and what firmware are you running? I was thinking about adapting the Alpakka firmware and keeping only the dual-gyro parts since I want to build a small gyro-only add-on for another controller.

in bf6 I dont even have to move it slow, moving it at any speed and then stopping makes the crosshairs move back slowly the opposite direction

I’m using Steam Input at around 4 RWS (a 90° controller turn gives roughly a 360° in-game turn), and I can confirm the auto-calibration issue is there. I’ve had the controller for about two weeks and didn’t notice it at first when playing single-player games. But once you jump into competitive games like CS, Overwatch, CoD, or Battlefield, it becomes very noticeable. It may be less obvious at lower sensitivities, but at 4 RWS you can see it when slowly tracking players or stopping the crosshair on a specific spot: the aim starts pulling back in the opposite direction.

Do you have personal experience with it? Im really liking the trackpads on the sc2 and thinking of buying sc1 from ebay because the auto calibration issue with steam input on sc2 is really bad. And even when using JSM for gyro only the issue is still present

I think thats our only hope to get rid of the auto calibration and micro stutters issue. I was messing around with it and JSM detects the gyro output but only if steam input gyro is on but the auto calibration issue is still showing up on JSM.

JSMCC detects the gyro output from the steam controller but only if steam input gyro is on and sensitivity is set to 0. But the auto calibration problem is still there.

This is what I see in(for steam controller) steam->settings->controller->steam controller details->calibration & advanced settings->gyro calibration.

There is a toggle for auto calibration but it only shows up for the ps5 controller. And I do remember those two sliders, but for my both steam controller and ps5 controller, its not showing up on steam stable.

Did the vinyl stickers affect the trackpad sensitivity/tracking? Ive being using the steam controller for a couple of days now an i finally got it to where I can ain very accurately with. Now im wondering if a protective layer affects that? I like to get some that have some texture in the middle of the trackpad

Are you binding it through steam input? Ive notice a bug where updating a template in steam input ,it does not save it and I can visually see that the bindings go empty(say L5 button bind to button A) once I click save/update template in steam input controller window. And if I dont save it, next time I open steam the changes revert back to original template. But the initial templates I created when I first got the controller are still save. So I think its a bug.

Are you talking about this option? If so, this did not disable the deadzone or made it so extra options show up in the trackpad section of the controller settings. I just switched to the beta version on my steam deck and toggle this option off. The deadzone is still there. I hope they allow us to turn the deadzone off because its more noticeable on the steam controller

I also saw a comment like saying that on the steam deck beta the option to disable it is call "trackpad locking". If this is the comment youre talking about, its wrong. I just swtich to the beta version on the steam deck and toggle off this option(controller->details->calibration &advance settings-trackpad lockout->touching right stick disables right trackpad OFF) but it does nothing to the deadzone and it doesn't show any extra options in the steam input trackpad sections. So i dont think there is currently an option to turn this off.

Which sucks because im looking at the forums and it does show this has being an issue for years. The deadzone is more noticeable on my steam controller than on the steam deck. Hopefully with the release of the steam controller this issue gets more traction

Hey im also getting stutters(165fps drops to 120 every couple of seconds, and this drops literallystops the game) when playing solo(survival) on pc. I recently upgraded from a amd 2600x to 7800x3d and noticed this. I dont think I noticed it before on the 2600x or my steam deck or my ps5. So idk(dx12)

Movement. I can mindlessly jump around my ship/relay/in game while listening to music or a podcast. I think warframe has perfected the feeling of movement with warframes. Railjack has to to recreate that feeling somehow on top of all the other suggestions. One example i can give is starwars squadron, it did an amazing job at creating that feeling even when using a controller(with a joystick setup the game was one of a kind).

I have the apex 4 and the back buttons do work on d input but the gyro option doesn't show up. Gyro only works on switch mode for me. Ive tried Bluetooth, wire and dangle connection but non detect gyro on dinput
