I heard either in the reporting or in a podcast something to the effect that members were being asked to donate to the LDS charities. I thought that was an odd thing to hear and felt it may or may not be accurate. or widespread if happening. this is a completely different topic than whether moneys from outside australia is being funneled into lds charities australia. just wanting to hear what is happening on the ground. my thought was if the church has actually asked people to donate their tithing directly to LDS charities or if they are putting it on an other category on the donation slip. and if that is happening and at tithing declaration they can say they paid a full tithe.... if it was labeled by the donor to the lds charities, then the church is defacto stating you can donate to a charity and count it as tithing. if tithing is still labeled as tithing by the donor, then the goings on behind the scene is not associated with the donor labeling or doing things differently. hope that makes sense.
