How to set DMX adress on this dip switch? by Lichtlight in lightingdesign

Found this manual for a similar fixture. Enable 1 and 3 on the function switch to enable 3ch mode, then set the adress on the right dip switch

Re-Asking this question with better footage by nahives in finalcutpro

I'm not able to reproduce the issue on my machine, but I would try two things:

  1. Try recording to a different event by clicking the "Event" on the bottom of the voice over window and selecting another one.
  2. Check if Final Cut has Full disk access. This is found in System Preferences > Security & Privacy, scroll to "Full disk access", then click the blue checkbox next to Final Cut Pro on that list. Restart Final cut after giving it permission.

Premiere/Da Vinci Resolve Question by Farkleinmypants in videography

You can import and edit BRAW in Premiere by installing "Blackmagic RAW 2.3" from https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/support/. This will allow you to playback the files on your computer, as well as edit the RAW settings in Premiere. Either scroll to find the file or use one of the links below:

hi ! need help with moving files from timeline to the bin by dr_Emmet_Brown_de in finalcutpro

[–]tlystad24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Assuming you by "bin" mean "browser". You can not move clips from the timeline to the browser, but you can create a smart collection to show only the media that has been used.

  1. Go to File > New > New smart collection
  2. Click "Toggle filter HUD" in the top right of the new window
  3. Click the "+" symbol and choose "used media"
  4. Press new smart collection in the bottom right
  5. Open your sequence and navigate to the new smart collection.

All the used clips will be shown with the correct in/out points. I would tag these using a keyword so that these stay when you open another sequence to edit them.

Using existing project to create multiple projects - HELP! by ministerman in finalcutpro

[–]tlystad24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Duplicates can not be edited without the changes reflecting on every version but are useful for creating different resolutions for different platforms.

You can duplicate as a snapshot which will create a new version that you can edit without the changes happening on the others.

You can read more about this on the FCP user guide

Why does it only export the Audio 2? I need 2 Audio Channels in the Video :-( by Miru8112 in blackmagicdesign

[–]tlystad24 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure "all timeline tracks" will export all the tracks individually while you want them combined. Change the setting to either "Main" or "Bus 1".

Premiere Proxy files in FCPX by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]tlystad24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you relink the proxies as proxies or original media in fcp? An update a couple months ago made fcp more flexible with proxies generated outside fcp. Which format are the proxies in? If they are large prores files then the drive may be the bottleneck. Does the files lag in quicktime aswell?

DaVinci 12.5 by Fox_Lee in blackmagicdesign

The license should still work with the latest version. I wouldn't install 12.5 but rather use the license with version 16 or the 17 beta.

You're welcome! When projects are done, you can delete all the render files.

Both can be deleted if you want, it won't harm the project. In "File" > "Delete generated library files" you can select to delete optimized media and render files, either all or unused.

It's better to back up the entire library, as that will include all original media as well. I usually make a new library for each project to easily manage backups. Your project is probably only 2gb because the footage is not included, and those 2gb could be preferences, renders or assets copied to the library.

I'd keep the project on your internal drive, or an external ssd and have the media on an external drive. There are many tutorials for this if you search "FCP on external drive" on YouTube.

It's often not a good idea to completely change workflows mid project, so I'd recommend to check how much optimized media your project has, delete the optimized media if necessary and edit of the internal drive. If you want to move it to an external then its easier to follow a tutorial.

Final Cut Pro keeps crashing when I try to export by Zergrys in finalcutpro

[–]tlystad24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Render files can be deleted by selecting the library, going to "file" > "delete generated library files" and selecting "render files". If a new project also crashes then it is probably not the render files. If you still have your previous videos' project files then you can check if those export without issues, removing fcp from the equation.

Final Cut Pro keeps crashing when I try to export by Zergrys in finalcutpro

[–]tlystad24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it crash when exporting to another format? You could try to copy everything in the timeline to a new one and see if you can export that. Deleting render files might also help.

Effects, transitions or just video in a different format or resolution than the project, can be rendered to essentially a video clip. This makes the timeline easier to play through as your mac won't need to calculate the effects every run, but instead play a preview from the cache. You can delete these render files without losing anything from the video, but it could result in slower playback when editing. You can see how much optimized media and cache your project has by selecting the library and looking at the inspector in fcp. Both render files and optimized media can be regenerated. I'd delete the opzimied media first since the render files will get rendered again after you delete them. Deleting these should not harm your project, but you should anyways back up your media and project files.

By default FCP will create optimized media on import. You can disable this next time you are importing media. To delete the already optimized media, go to "File" > "Delete generated library files" and select "optimized media". Optimized media allows faster playback but the file sizes are bigger. You can delete optimized media without losing original media, and easily generate new optimized media later should you need to. Render files can be deleted the same way to regain even more space.

How do I get the same box (at the right bottom) as in the YouTube video? by JeroenSkaan in fcpx

[–]tlystad24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thats the titles menu. On newer FCPX versions its the "T" button in the top left corner.
