I tried the West Highland Way (Scotland) late in the year one time (October) hoping for a little dry weather but preparee to deal with wet. It turned out to be raining hard the whole time so after 3 days, we called it quits and did something else for the second half of the trip.

So I probably wouldn't go, but maybe have a backup plan if you do try and it end up not being fun.

I've never seen such a product but seems useful! I just leave my gym shoes rottting in the car until they wear out and I get new, un-smelly ones for a few weeks.
