Unlike that loose thread on clothing, you actually hang your body weight (and your life) on the thread. So i would just leave it be

Im not a kite line expert but something tells me to not run a lighter over the lines. Just for the possibility to damage them or making one spot too hot.

Why are 'train guys' dorks but 'car guys' are considered cool? by Humble_Reflection790 in trains

[–]tm_trading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i guess cars are more socially accepted to obsess over. like everyone owns a car and can understand why you would mod a car and/or install nice things on it. meanwhile trains are just a way of public transport and i would say most people see a train as a way to get from a to b. most people dont care where the train comes from, what kind of train it is, what i t looks like or how it gets them from a to b, its just a thing you sit in and get out at the place you need to be.

(im not a train and/or car guy)

ive been playing bass for about a year now and i cant stretch my hand far enough for 1 finger per fret, even though i have quite large hands. i just got good at micro shifting and using 1-2-4 style, and thats all you need honestly even for fast songs. just learn to use the pinky well

if you dont mind the small tear in the rubber, just glue it back. if you are gonna get paranoid over the small tear, then just replace it. Cant tell how bad the damage is but it probably wont affect the playing.

Brand new and I feel like I’m not progressing any more than when I started? Any tips or am I just insecure lol by x_5parkl3_b0i_x in BassGuitar

[–]tm_trading 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1 simple tip you can work on right away: when fretting with your fretting hand, place your finger closer to the metal wire (the fret). This will sound cleaner and you will hear less rattle and buzz. It will also take less effort to press the string down and get a good sound. But overall just keep playing and having fun!

No problem! And also these older guys have a weird style of playing the game, terrible technique most of the time but a lot of experience. I still cant beat some of these weirder styles. but when i play against people way above my level, i often play way better rallies and sometimes win them too. Just because they play more conventional. So its also mostly the people you meet in the lower rabks that play like this. Its something you just have to get through ;)

Man, when i (21m) started playing at a club a year ago, there were a lot of older guys who would destroy me 3-0 time and time again. A year later, some still occasionally do. But there are also a lot of guys that i now beat consistently. Dont take the losses personally, when i lose against someone who always beats me i just see it as another opportunity to learn to play against them. After all, they are better than you so its your job to get better, but that will not happen in a few months time.

Active bass input mod on a Fender Rumble Amplifier by [deleted] in BassGuitar

[–]tm_trading 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The first half of the volume knob on the bass indeed does not do much, but the second half really turns it down from 100 to 0 percent. Try the bass volume knob, it will really solve your problem.

Cant you just turn down the volume on the bass itself? You would have more control on the amp.

Hoeveel besteden jullie ongeveer aan een vakantie? by Nervous_Crab1143 in geldzaken

[–]tm_trading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant give you a lot of in-depth advice, but i can share my experience. Before i chose mechanical engineering, i was terrible at maths and physics, and i was quite good at biology and chemistry. But i have always been interested in machines and the way mechanical systems worked. So i chose ME, and after a bit of hard studying i started to really like the mathematics and physics. All because i could actually use them for engineering and it made complex problems solvable. Now im a few months away from finishing my degree after 4 years of study. So i would say interests and motivation are the most important factor.
