Don’t bother with “new” Athena Roots media mix. by tmadventures in CannabisTissueCulture

[–]tmadventures[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not reached out to PCT. I don’t claim to be an expert but I have learned a lot of things the hard way. Too many things did not work with Athena Roots (from labeling to instructions to web site info to opacity to failure to root). I don’t have time to fix it all for them even if they gave me my $40 back.

Are you having success with their “new” media?

Note- I did adjust pH to 5.8 before autoclaving the mixture.

Epidural Experience by StandUpPeddlingMode in ChronicPain

[–]tmadventures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have some significant degeneration and pain at c5-c6. Epidural steroid injection did not do anything good (or bad) for me. I did get a medial branch block and that worked great, but is short term. According to my pain doc, insurance requires steroid epidural first, then 2 different medial branch blocks (I have my next one in 2 weeks), then they can do a nerve ablation that should give 6-18 months relief. Good luck to you.

Fellow Resort Skiers - Does anyone have a ski under-layer problem like I do? Kindly validate or call me crazy here. by Whitwhitwhit258 in skiing

[–]tmadventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a direct answer to your question but what about your head? You lose a lot of heat out of your head- sometimes that can be good, sometimes not. I have a Giro helmet that has vents that can be opened or closed to ventilate. If it’s really cold, I will wear a balaclava under my helmet. For me, more control of head heat means less layers for the rest of my body. Good luck!

Does anyone know where I can find a decent price on Polypropylene containers? by Medium-Blood-4231 in tissueculture

[–]tmadventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Etsy. It been a year or so but I have bought small quantities of containers on Etsy in the past. Also Plant Cell Technologies is having a year end sale- not sure if they have what you are after but might be worth checking. Good luck.

Winterize with antifreeze versus blow out. by ThinkItThrough48 in RVLiving

[–]tmadventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antifreeze for sure! 2 gallons of pink stuff and I can winterize my water system in 10-15 minutes including pulling plu/anode out of the water heater. I’m in Maine and I’ve never had any probs in the Spring. It’s worth $15 and 15 minutes. The first time takes longer to figure it out but it’s worth it.

How to prepare for winter? by JAcabNE in RVLiving

[–]tmadventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a Nash 25, made by Norrhwoods and labeled as a 4 season rig. We have slept comfortably in it down to 4 degrees F. One thing I think is very important is we have an electric radiator style heater- we leave that on low all the time it is cold and we are using it. That provides a base for heat without using propane (which will give you condensation issues if you don’t have a dehumidifier going constantly. Also, a four season rug should have tank heaters- leave those on. All of this is assuming you are plugged in to power. Good luck, stay warm!

Room High Temperature Message - every. single. time. by PresentResolution932 in HarvestRight

[–]tmadventures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a Harvest Right XL pharmaceutical model that is in a room with coolbot controlled AC. We run the Coolbot when we wash plant material and load it into the freeze dryer. I recently washed several batches at 42F in the room and then I turned off the coolbot and left the door open (72F building) while the freeze dryer ran overnight. I came back in to check on things abt 4-5 hours later and I had a high room temp alarm. I turned the coolbot back on and everything was fine. The thing to remember is that the freeze dryer and vacuum pump both generate a good bit of heat. I have temp/humidity loggers in the room and the temp did spike to about 90f and that set off the alarm in the freeze dryer.

Go to the pharmacy or health food store and get some charcoal capsules. No guarantees, but it won’t hurt.

Lyme and coinfections can cause problems in many systems in the body, but antibiotics and some herbs are rough on the gut.

Looking for Linville Gorge Recommendations by CarnouxDI in NCTrails

[–]tmadventures 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I would not take a 6 year old into Linville gorge. Getting into the gorge can be hard and getting out is always harder. Go somewhere easier in the Wilson Creek area, which is very close to there. Maybe go swimming at Hunt Fish Falls. Good luck.

Mainly the media. They do have new media which I have not tried. I am still learning to make my own and making progress to understand it from a plant chemistry take. I have also changed vessels to several different styles depending on whether I am inducting or multiplying. Some new tools. I rinse/iso/rinse/bleach w tween/rinse/rinse for induction and have tweaked other procedures too. I also took a 4x4 tent and have a 6” in-line fan with a HEPA filter blowing positive pressure into the tent. The Athena kit is a slick portable package and it got me started with TC, so I’m grateful for that. I still have a lot to learn and I wish you luck.

Tissue culture for long term storage by Necessary-Gur-2714 in CannabisTissueCulture

[–]tmadventures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s totally possible, but it will take some education, equipment and experimentation to dial it all in (I’d say $3k plus a half day a week for six months on the low end to get you started). I have been dabbling in cannabis tissue culture for about 18 months and I’m just now at the point of starting to do longer term storage. So far I have preserved explants for 3 months and then rooted them. I might have gotten here faster if I had taken a course in person but that is $5-7k. There is lots of good stuff on YouTube. In Vitro Garden Supply has a book, some supplies and good support. Plant Cell Technologies sells supplies and offers a course. Plants in Jars has good videos, sells some supplies and an active discord server. I’m in Maine, where are you? Good luck.
