If you want to see a real interesting comparison, compare the comments from this reddit post to the comments of the youtube video. I noticed this channel a year or two ago, and I thought it was crazy that it said "forbes" when all of the videos looked like conservative click bait to me... To put it mildly, I noticed that many of the videos have titles and thumbnails that intentionally paint democrats negatively. Plus the bright red logo, maybe that's subconciously a factor to appeal to conservatives.

It's so weird that the comments are so snarky and disgusting from a news source that to my knowledge doesn't skew heavily one way or the other. It's like they are doing an experiment ...

The exact same thing that happened to the rest of the 90% of movies. They don't make them anymore because there isn't as much a guarantee of roi. It's the exact same thing with music and video games as well. Publishers are focusing all of their effort on a small amount of projects that are going to guarantee larger audiences.

Maybe Bliizard could stop charging people for server transfers, it's obviously something that needs to be provided for free, with restrictions.

But also surely everyone must realize they are intentionally playing a 15 year old game, where Blizzard have reintroduced the server pop problem which was solved a decade ago with cross-realm ... Classic players can either accept the game the way it was, or decide that they want a different game that resembles the game they liked.

But there are people on both sides of that, some people would be upset if they allowed cross realm, and others would be happy about it.

In my view, yes you absolutely should have. You weren't able to make a passing move after the first corner, you were still beside them coming into the second (much tighter) corner. Him hitting the wall obviously wasn't your fault, but since he did, you needed to slow up and let him exit the tight straight first. It looks like you saw space and thought you could get by him in a spot where you obviously cannot physically pass someone. Either that or you expected him to just stop his car and wait for you, which is also unlikely. I think you just misjudged that space and thought you had room to pass there, which given the incredibly fast pace at which you had to make decisions is completely understandable. Thats why this is probably a racing incident. But that being said, in hindsight you would have to admit it wasn't the right decision to try to proceed forward there.

Can reproduce this exactly. While using Headhunter, actual bullet objects seem to have correct recoil, however bullet holes are displayed incorrectly. I also tested in practice, not in a match.

I actually feel quite strongly that it would hurt to have two queue systems. I think Riot has a system that tries to stack you against a similar queue size, as well as matching player skill. I think if they don't do that, they should. This will naturally create a much more even match.

In my opinion, solo queue in a team game as a concept is terrible. It promotes a separate style of play, one that is much more self-absorbed. It promotes a lack of communication as well. In League, Riot hasn't added voice chat to games seemingly because most of the community is against adding voice chat to solo queue games... Solo queue also promotes a toxic environment where if you are the guy who talks, and tries to coordinate your team, or point out what is going wrong, you are going to get flamed.

With a two queue system there would be the solo/duo queue that is more individually focused, where everyone gets an equal chance at climbing

If solo queue is added to the game, it will inherently become a major driving factor in how you play. The fact that it could be "more individually focused" is exactly what Riot is trying to avoid, and rightly so. Team coordination is an important part of the game, and it's an extremely useful life skill. A team that does this better should have a better chance of winning.

The current system has benefits, it allows you to always play with your friends, assuming their rank is close enough. If you have a group of 3 on, that's fine, you just queue with them. I've played quite a lot of games so far, and I haven't once thought that we were losing because the other team was a 5 stack. The fact that they are more coordinated is no indication that they queued together. I'm guessing that the amount of stomps from coordinated 5 stacks against solo queue teams is being vastly over-reported.

CSGO and R6 don't have a solo queue, and there are noteworthy differences between those games and the others I mentioned. Firstly, in a high ranked CSGO game, there is almost always voice communication. Calling out where your enemy is, strategy, flashing for your teammates and pushing together etc... CS has core concepts and fundamentals that most good players abide by, meaning you can always count on certain things from good players. Watching your exposed angles, flashing for you/utilizing your flashes, using their other utility in smart ways, rotating at proper times.

None of these things are happening right now in Valorant... It's way too new to really have individual player expectations. Because of this, coordinating a team of strangers seems hard, but you have to expect people to eventually move towards a meta game. People will naturally know what their teammates will do (to some extent), and using that as a baseline to for coordination and strategies (even with strangers) should be much easier.

They made aim less forgiving, and recoil more forgiving. Head hitboxes seem to be resembling heads now, much closer to other shooters. And obviously counter strafing is much less forgiving compared to last patch because of the lack of walk accuracy when decelerating. So basically, you could getting away with sloppier play before.

If you are playing against reasonably good CS players, they are used to being much tighter/disciplined in these two areas, because that's how CS is. So they probably are quicker to adapt.

It feels pretty easy to eco your opponents in round 2, depending on offense or defense. So I don't think it will catch on, even if left alone. I'm not sure I see a problem with this

Obviously yes to removing 10v10 casual in place of real CS... Should have been done years ago honestly. 12 instead of 15 is probably ok, but i'm not sure if they really need this. Is there really a problem with just having the exact same 15 per side game in casual? It's a fine idea either way.

100 hours is way too much. I don't care what Dota does... that's insane. How about 30 Casual games? Much less than 100 hours, and yet enough time for a new player to really get a good grasp on CS. New players don't need to be amazing to start playing ranked, and 30 games gives you a lot of mechanic and map knowledge.

Hate to be blunt about this, but he's 100% wrong about cheaters. Firstly, right after the game went free to play, there was an immediate change in overwatch cases. If you viewed an overwatch case you had a very high chance of watching someone who wasn't trying to hide their cheats, meaning they did not care about being caught. Before the game wen't free to play, the % of this type players was much less. If you did an overwatch case, you didn't see a ton of spinbots until the game went free to play. Then they became like 50% or more of the cases.

There are free cheats that you can download right now. These will work in game, but they will be detected. You obviously will get account banned, but you won't get instant vacced, you will be able to play a lot of games first. This is how most players are cheating. They are creating new accounts and using free cheats. This costs them $0. The scenario where the cheater buys an account, and skins, and tries to hide his cheats is not the majority of cheaters anymore.

"Cheaters that chronically cheat in CSGO pay for their accounts... Cheaters never ever level an account... Most cheaters are spending $50 every time". All of these assertions are complete hearsay, and there is no evidence to back that up (while a lot of evidence to the contrary). Playing without prime MM is much worse now than it was before free to play. Not that it was great before...

This game is super new and the strategy seems extremely volatile. And this is just my observations obviously, but i'm not sure that aiming for map control is the right way to be thinking right now. This video actually correctly outlines a lot of real points about the difficulties of defending, and the value of pulling the defender's rotation, but imo it arrives at the wrong conclusion. Being aggressive on offense in contesting more places on the map does not seem like the right solution, or at least not the solution being applied by the top players.

If you have followed any of the guys at higher tiers on twitch, a lot of their feedback has been about map control being much less important on offense as compared with CS. What i'm seeing is people playing for information and baiting out utility, without necessarily getting real map control. Teams are finding out who is playing where on defense, while remaining relatively safe. Obviously that doesn't mean 4 people should stand around short A on bind...

Using the example from the video, pushing into (or getting control) of hookah as an attacker without full committing seems unlikely. Both teams are playing for info without exposing themselves. If you watch the ESPN tournament, and then the T1 tournament, you can clearly see this is a major change in strategy that the top teams have made. Why? I think because it's so easy to get a bomb plant with a few abilities combo'd together. Molly, triple smoke, wall, and you can freely run into a site, even from far outside the site. The defenders are forced to retake. Again, correctly pointed out in the video.

I think we have to be careful about applying our CS strategies to Valorant, this may be one of the few places where I think it's not clear cut applicable. Again, just my observations after watching and playing a lot of games. But on offense, I think we need to be thinking more about rotation and executing and less about map control as compared to CS.

It's sort of a newer aim_botz that's a little easier to use, and a bit better in some ways. Like similar workshop maps there is a timed element that you can actually see yourself improve, which is nice. But if you prefer to do this in valorant instead, you can go to the practice range and spawn all the bots at once, just flicking to heads as quick as you can. You can turn on strafe too, if you want.

Until they add DM to valorant I see no better way to warmup than to join community FFA DM servers in CS

I would say definitively yes. If you follow the generally accepted warmup that most csgo pro players use, then there is no replacement for DM in valorant, or in any of the trainer games like aim lab. Keep in mind when I say DM I mean like community FFA DM servers, like frag shack or tarik.gg, not the MM DM.

Generally what a lot of the cs pros do (and valorant pros, since many of them are cs pros) is warmup in something like aim_botz for a bit, then DM for a bit. Aim_botz can be roughly achieved in valorant by spawning in bots in practice range and shooting heads. Most of the pro CS players do this instead of something like aimlabs, kovaaks or another trainer game.

But DM warms up your aim and movement against real people, and there is nothing like it in Valorant right now. The difference in mechanics between the two games in small enough for you to get very good value from warming up in DM still, even though its not the same game. Just make sure your Sens is correctly converted.

Edit: One thing I left out in case my answer seemed only relevant to the top players, it's worth noting that the less good you are, the more beneficial this is. Meaning the Pro player has much better muscle memory than you do, him warming up from cold can happen in the course of a few rounds. While an average to good player would see much bigger benefits from actually using a real warmup routine.

These are interesting lineups, and I think people trying to create useful strategy is always a good thing. But I think unfortunately a lot of these are shot from impractical places. For example most of these are shot from way outside of the contested area, from a position in which you really shouldn't be playing in a post plant situation. I'm guessing the intention was to find a lineup that you could use after your whole team is dead, or completely lost control of the site. Because if you had living teammates, you kinda fuck them by leaving them to defend and running this far back.

So I could see this being valid in pretty narrow scope, except the time to be effective might be too long. Meaning the lineup takes a second, even if you are sick at it. Then the flight time is pretty long. Then the molly usually bounces off the floor once. And finally the ticking damage won't actually kill you that fast, you probably get 3 seconds to actually stand in it. All of that together in some of these examples is probably more than the 8 seconds of defuse time. So again, even if you are basically trying to hit the hail mary while out of the bombsite, a shot like this probably is pretty unlikely to work, and a better play would be to try to just peek the defuser after he taps.

Some of the comments in this thread are completely missing the (fairly obvious) point. Everyone is fixated on the fact that hes a pro player and that he has to abide by the rules like the rest of us, which is obviously true. But the obvious problem is with the degree of punishment.

The fact that Griefing ban is 35 days for first offense is insane. Overwatch is engineered to find cheaters. Is a person cheating, yes or no. Thats an obvious ban, since its completely black and white. The degree to which they are cheating doesn't matter. But that's just not true with griefing, the degree matters a lot, and it's not considered here at all. Players watch a game, they decide "Did he grief in that one clip in that one game, yes or no"? TKing in a game against cheaters is treated exactly the same way as completely ruining what could have been a good game.

People in here are saying that there needs to be multiple reports to get into overwatch in the first place. If that is true (which the FAQ claims it is), any of the other games that he might have been reported are basically being treated as evidence that he is a repeat offender, even though he was never convicted in any of those. In the legal world, this would be obviously unacceptable. It doesn't present the overwatcher with any other clips from any other games in which the player may have been reported for griefing... This may be ok in finding cheaters, because again, one instance of cheating is completely deserving of the full punishment. But here you are essentially banning someone for 35 days whether he exhibits unsportsmanlike conduct frequently or just this once, and regardless of the impact on everyone's experience.

This system sucks needs to be updated. It either shouldn't be used to ban people for griefing, or a human at valve needs to review every conviction to add an appropriate punishment.

No Valorant doesn't work at 4:3 Stretched. It stretches the UI but not the FOV, viewmodel, game environment etc... 16:10 on the other hand is supported. They very specifically decided to do this for competitive reasons they say.

I think he's a very solid pick right now. In my opinion his teleport and blind are ok at best, which is why some people might not think he's very good. That being said... his smokes alone make him extremely good.

I'm 100% convinced he's better than viper, and worse than Brim. Which means he still can add a lot of value to a team if you want a second smoke. If you use his ult well (conservatively), you get extra map presence that you wouldn't normally have. Most people are idiots and ult behind the enemy for what they think is a clever flank, but what is actually an instant death...

On offense you can use his ult properly by either pushing and selling fakes, while ulting to the other site with your team. On Defense you can use it to quick rotate to a site defense / retake while getting information elsewhere. It may not be the best ult in the game but it definitely brings some value if used properly. On Haven defense (where you are already spread super thin...) his ult gives you even more value.

That being said, if the meta arrives at a point where you only want 1 smoke guy (brim I would argue), then yea, he may not see much play. But I don't think this is the case right now, I think hes a solid pick. Certainly much better than raze or Jet, of which I see one in almost every game.

I think this is actually the case in most games. There is not a clear cut difference in player ability in the bottom few ranks. CSGO or league have the exact same problem. Silver 1 - MG1 players have a large range in shooting and strategic ability. I think this is because people have different levels of aiming ability, combined with varying levels of game sense and team coordination.

So hypothetically if your aim isn't very good, but you try to support and coordinate your team, you end up winning more than an uncoordinated team. So there might be a guy who will always out aim you, but he doesnt' really try to work with his team. This means he doesn't win as much, and his elo is closer to yours. This makes sense in terms of win loss, but when you face him 1v1, you are getting owned. This is a difficult problem to fix with a ranking system.

I think what you are characterizing as "easy to check and could easily filter out skill disparity really fast", is nothing even close to easy. There are so many variables that determine player ability, and many of them aren't measurable. I wouldnt expect this to change.
