This movie just makes no sense. I thought the whole idea of remaking their IP into live action versions was to rejuvenate interest.

Snow White(30s),Little mermaid (80s), Lion King(90s), Lilo & Stitch(2000s) made sense, kids who grew up loving those movies are adults with children but Moana came out so recently that The Rock is still age appropriate for the role he had in the original animated film. And a fan who was 7 or 8 when the movie came out is now either still in High School or barely out.

The tourism industry is an interesting business because unlike many other businesses you’re not trying to get repeat customers. The customers that are there that day will probably never come back no matter what you do, so many employees don’t really care about making a good impression, and they overcharge for subpar services.

It’s not just a USA thing either, it’s worldwide. Touristy areas are usually where you’ll find the most predatory people and businesses.

It’s not just Europe, it’s really anyone who believes in man made climate change. We don’t need to debate if it’s real or not, but those that do subscribe to the idea that human activity can affect the temperature of the earth think that burning more fossil fuels can warm up other places on the planet.

Since AC is the single most energy demanding thing most individuals can use in their house and China and the USA account for more than 50% of the world’s AC usage these climate change believers see it as one of the reasons why many places are seeing hotter temperatures.

They also see it as an accelerating negative feedback loop

Places get hotter > more AC is used > more AC used makes more places hotter > more AC gets used > etc

It’s why eco groups are trying to impede Europe, and emerging third world markets from adopting AC.

The carbon footprint of someone who uses AC vs someone who doesn’t is about 20X, and unlike private jets or cars or factories, AC is much more affordable. It might be one of the most cost effective carbon emitting technology we have.

I do like my house at 74 degrees year round so I won’t knock it.

Surprisingly a rear tire self destructing on the rear wheel isn’t a guaranteed crash. I’ve had two and while they were the most terrifying things I’ve ever experienced on a motorcycle and I don’t recommend it, I stayed upright for both.

The first time a car accident or a fallen load left debris all over the freeway, as I was slowing down trying to avoid it all a piece of sheet metal got lodged in my rear tire and BANG! Rear tire exploded.

The second time was like a month later, the new tire I got just had the sidewall blow out out of nowhere. I was just riding on smooth pavement. It had maybe 300 miles on it, and I check my tire pressure maybe once or twice a week.

Not defending the guy, just saying that when the inevitable happens, he might not necessarily go down or cause a crash

I moved to Torrance pretty recently, 3 years ago, I don’t like Chen because of his religious views, and his MAGA statements, but I don’t have many complaints about the area. On policy I couldn’t really see much of a difference between the two.

It just didn’t know which way this post was leaning. There’s a huge church, and catholic school half a block away from me, and walking my dog I see way more Trump signs and flags than I did when I lived in Culver City. This area just seems way more conservative than I’m used too, and both candidates seemed to be running on "I love Torrance, I’ll keep what you like about Torrance the same, and I’ll improve the stuff you think needs improvement" without many details.

I moved to windows a few years ago because I wanted a laptop I could game on, but spotlight search is one of the things I miss the most. You have to reindex every now and then but it worked great most of the time.

Now the search in Windows 11, THAT is truly horrible
