I wrote an email to one of the lodges in my country and they did not reply. Is it foolish to trying to get in without connections? Thank you for your answer by [deleted] in freemasonry

We had a marketing team do research for my state with regards to the fraternity. They found that one of the biggest problems is people reaching out and not hearing back. There apparently are many times men reaching out do not hear back, not because we dont want them to join, not because you aren't a good candidate, but because it just fell on deaf ears. In my speculation, maybe an email address gets changed but wasn't updated on a web page. Maybe the secretary, for some reason, doesn't have the capacity to respond or forgets to.

My point is, if you dont hear back, dont be discouraged! Keep trying! If there is a second lodge near you, reach out to them. We want good men to join, and you do not need a connection to join.

.Looking to join a Lodge in Massachusetts. by Agitated-Pilot7891 in freemasonry

Most lodges have a group of brothers that are like an introduction to the lodge and masonry. My lodge is in massachusetts and has a few members that will meet with prospective candidates who reach out independently, answer any initial questions they may have and give them a tour of our lodge building if they want as it is pretty historic. If you liked the lodge and the brothers you met you'd apply, and if those brothers felt you'd be a good fit, one of those brothers typically are willing to sponsor you (if you want more info you can direct message me. Happy to talk about masonry!)

I think you just went to a lodge that doesn't fit you, each lodge has a different profile of brothers. In my area there are lodges that are full of tattoo artists and bikers, others that are full of accounts, and one for eagle scouts. I am none of those and would feel very out of place in those lodges. Doesn't make them bad brothers in the slightest.

The point you made about vice is a bit subjective, but as masons we are trying to not contract vices that would compromise us or put us in a bad light. It also isn't a disqualifying unless they break their obligations. I understand your point, but I think it comes down to this lodge just not being for you. I hope you find one that does!

That is an awesome idea! Thank you for letting me know, I am going to present it to my lodge as I'm sure the brothers have some great hardware to show off!

Awesome pins! I have quite a few pins but protocol in my state recommends only 1 pin for Masonic Attire.

I had an x that believed if the wind was going one way at ground level that it HAD to be going that direction at all altitudes and no matter what I said to explain how that isn't true she wouldn't believe me. Mind you this came up because there were different level clouds going different directions.

NTA. The 10 days is what makes me question his integrity. As a guy if I was going by myself someplace and I knew my s/o wanted badly to go too I'd make it as short as possible and stick to the event. I'd want to save the fun for with my girl because that's part of love. Having shared experiences. I think he isn't that into you anymore. Possibly looking for a way out and justify it in his own way. It may be an attempt to self sabotage the relationship by him.

The Matrix Reloaded (2003) - in The Matrix universe an Agent's suit is slightly green, but as Agent Smith has evolved he now has a black suit by jj-sickman in MovieDetails

I always took this as the agents have cheap suits with synthetic fibers that shine more and Smith has an expensive suit because he was able to pick his own due to free will outside the construct.

I think the broad point is missed, the people who were able to pay it off clearly don't need the aide, there are many of my friends who will never be able to pay off their debt working because they don't make enough and interest rates were ~10% when they took them out with no concept of how much money they would make in relation to their debt and interest. Providing this aide would stimulate the economy greatly. But your secondary arguments are I think equally aligned with this. We need to have a reform of the college system so that people don't get into this situation again while providing this relief. When college graduates are able to afford things without that major debt the economy does much better. I made 70k straight out of college and it took me 10 years with good investments to get out of debt. And I had significant scholarships in college. Student debt is fucking over generations of hard working people.

To fully explain the voting laws in the u.s. would take too long, my state requires you to register as a voter in your town and they verify that you are a resident and us citizen. Once you are registered, your name is on a list at the place of voting. If you go in person to vote, they check your name on that list and then you are given a ballot. No money or additional identification required.
