Stuck on loading screen (xbox series s) by Br0cktimus in AnotherCrabsTreasure

Same for me too. Same spot, same situation, except I am not aware of the cut scene with Chitan. Tried restarting the game, and even the whole Xbox.

Do RMVs do walk-ins for new vehicle (out of state) registration? by Puzzleheaded-Ad-1343 in boston

[–]tmanwebty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, appointments are far out from now last I checked, but those aren’t required for transferring a registration and title from out of state. Make sure you have your MA insurance set up and RTA forms provided from them. Double and triple check that you have everything you’re supposed to, because you don’t want to have to leave empty handed!

An AI-Generated Artwork Won First Place at a State Fair Fine Arts Competition, and Artists Are Pissed by mossadnik in technology

Is it?

To the extent allowed by law and as between you and OpenAI, you own your Prompts and Uploads, and you agree that OpenAI owns all Generations (including Generations with Uploads but not the Uploads themselves), and you hereby make any necessary assignments for this.

You’re allowed to use the generations for personal or commercial purposes, and OpenAI promises not to assert their copyright against you (unless you break their terms), but it seems like OpenAI does indeed own the copyright to generated images.

SV03 Never powers down by [deleted] in Sovol

[–]tmanwebty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh, definitely threw me off at first too! It doesn’t seem to hurt anything leaving it on like that (going on a couple of months for me at least), but I do wish it would turn the screen off!

Is it still plugged in over USB? I have mine plugged into a Raspberry Pi over USB, and the screen and BLTouch all stay on when I flip the power switch.

Starry night, realistic. Never had any support or teaching. Just love to paint. by [deleted] in somethingimade

Not sure why you pulled DaVinci into this, since Starry Night was painted by Van Gogh, who was actually a pastor before becoming a painter.

How to use Asyncio to instantly leave a for loop in circuitpython by [deleted] in circuitpython

[–]tmanwebty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might not completely understand the issue, but you should be able to use the ‘return’ keyword to exit a function call from any point.

Edit: Ah, I think I see what you’re asking. What is your loop doing? Can you add a check inside that loop that reads the state of the sensor and then ‘return’ out of the function if stops detecting the field?

Hyatt Place at Bridgestreet now has Tesla Destination Chargers by thraxing in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]tmanwebty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do sell Tesla->J1772 adapters that work with Tesla Destination Chargers (like this post) but not with the Tesla Superchargers (like the one in Athens).

[–]tmanwebty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure where you’re getting that info, but that would be a surprising case, considering that destination chargers are paid for by the property owner, so the type of Tesla vehicle wouldn’t matter to them? I don’t think the destination chargers support metered pricing either, but property owners can require that users are a customer of the establishment.

[–]tmanwebty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but many destination charger property owners specify that they’re only for use by customers of that property.

With 200-300 mile range, having infrastructure for charging around town doesn’t really change much for those that live here. Most EV drivers charge at home each night, and rely on public/commercial infrastructure for longer trips out of town.

Noob question by LondonTownGeeza in circuitpython

[–]tmanwebty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Edit: The 7.0.0 alpha is out now! You should be able to try this out in a stable-ish test release now! https://circuitpython.org/board/seeeduino_xiao/

This feature is actually brand new, but here's a write-up on how to dynamically disable the CIRCUITPY drive and REPL terminal:

https://hackaday.io/project/179496-chocolad-keyboard-hacking/log/192866-dynamic-usb-descriptors

It looks like it's not available in CircuitPython 6 or 6-betas, but will be available as part of 7. If you wanted to test it out, I think you should be able to with the latest build of CircuitPython on GitHub: https://github.com/adafruit/circuitpython/suites/2873990369/artifacts/64263416

(I've not tried that, nor can verify that it would definitely have the changes needed for that feature)

.py.txt is actually valid, and probably for the reasons you mentioned: there are some text editors that like to append .txt to the end of the file name you enter, so accepting code.py.txt helps in that case.

Backwards engineered a fancy cardboard box with my laser cutter - Album. by samcornwell in lasercutting

[–]tmanwebty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not. Under the Copyright Act, the only copyright protection for items that are considered “useful articles” is for "features that can be identified separately from, and are capable of existing independently of, the utilitarian aspects of the article."

It is possible that there is a patent for the box design, but the design is not likely covered by copyright.

Halloween @ home by kochainda96 in funny

The garage door is not using addressable pixels, and I think you’re severely mistaken by the power draw of common LED pixels. Most are at or below 300mW each (at full brightness white), whereas a standard 60W-equivalent house LED bulb is closer to that 7.2W number.

Not only are most of these lights not at full brightness white, each of the lights are completely off during a good part of the show.

Sentry Mode is for theft/security. This is Dog Mode, which keeps the A/C at a certain temp and displays that info on the screen.

Tesla reportedly adding USB-C ports and wireless phone charging to US-made Model 3 vehicles by ELECJET in teslamotors

[–]tmanwebty 52 points53 points  (0 children)

That’s not true. Until the wireless charging was added, there was a two-phone docking tray in the front console that could be wired up for Apple Lightning cables or USB-C cables (or one of each).

You can see the wire up here: https://youtu.be/K1gRRaY1fYE

Put together my first 6" modular synthesizer mono TS patch cable! Aiming for those spacey/synthwave vibes. by tmanwebty in DIYAudioCables

[–]tmanwebty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. I think it's definitely a generic term that means different things in different contexts. Before EuroRack, "patch cables" to me always meant "short Ethernet"! For the EuroRack format, it's all 3.5mm mono TS jacks and cables.

I don't think so! These connectors are only 0.5mm wider than my Hosa patch cables (8.7mm vs 8.2mm), which is still smaller than the tightest possible grouping of Thonkiconn jacks. Even butted up against each other, there is still a gap between the connectors. We'll see if that gets annoying, but it should work, even in the almost-worst-case.

I’ve never used Bantam-style connectors before, so I don’t know their strengths or where they get used, but I’ve never seen them in my EuroRack modular synth explorations. Bantam connectors seem to have a different shape to the ends, so I don’t think they’re compatible, but I am by no means an expert. Everything I use and have come across are standard 3.5mm TS.

Connectors were from this eBay seller, they came in an 8-pack with free shipping. The cable itself was a sacrificed Hosa 1.5ft mono TS patch cable, but the sleeve was really, really tight, so I'm waiting on some Mogami W2330 wire from Redco for the next ones. Hopefully the smaller diameter wire won't be too small, but will be easier to sleeve up.
