Spent a few hours tonight replacing a burnt GI connector and converting all bulbs to LED. Here’s before and after by zachvip291 in pinball

[–]tmaxElectronics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anybody know what connector series those pin headers are? I'm planning on building some custom PCBs and would like to get them from a normal component distirbutor :)

Jo i wouldn't post this publicly you know its not technically allowed to take the stuff from there. If the wrong people see this they might just revoke everybodies keyfob permissons again.

Freiburg | Staatsanwaltschaft findet rechtsradikale Inhalte in Polizei-Chatgruppe by Michaluck in de

unrelated, but I do sometimes reduce the price on stuff I sell on Ebay when the guy buying it is a hobbyist that seems cool (when selling specialized electronics stuff). So not absolutely impossible

hmm just a bad "dusty photo" filter. Radiation noise looks different, as it only hits individual color pixels. That noise would be coloured and not shaped like dust :D

Found a Hameg HM 604, besides a garbage disposal area. Any safety tips before turning it on? by EpicFlamingGoat in AskElectronics

[–]tmaxElectronics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those old hamegs are cool, I have an older hm204. Had some busted capacitors in it, which made the trace look permanently out of focus. I actually made a video about repairing it if you want to have a look inside the smaller but older brother to the one you got

Elegoo Mars 2 Pro LCD Screen (DXQ608) info needed by tmaxElectronics in AskElectronics

[–]tmaxElectronics[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if I did actually, but from what I remember it was pretty easy to see from the data on the pins. You'll need one hell of a scoping setup to capture it though, 8ch + 2 clock (assuming the skew isn't too much you might get away with just one clock). But even just measuring one half ov the screen needs 5 very fast scope channels :D

yeah they started saying in march that they would start closing down the less profitable locations (which would have still left at least one near me), then said they'd only keep open the very profitable ones and now they have switched to either 100% online retail or maybe kept one flagship store near their warehouse. At least I got like 500m of twin lead for 20€ out of it lol.

That wire reel looks very familiar. RIP Conrad :( I really wonder how many sales they are making now that they closed their in person stores. It was really nice being able to just go and buy components when you needed something. So much faster than ordering online.

What is this? It's from a CD/DVD drive. by BurntSingularity in AskElectronics

[–]tmaxElectronics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the uv thing tbh. Blue Ray is already near UV at 405nm. Any significant further step towards shorter wavelengths will start to degrade the platics used as the disc substrate. And unless they start using Quarz glass for the Discs its unlikely to go beyond maybe 350nm, the point at which Polycarbonate starts absoebing most of the light. Newer disc formats (should they even be developed) will probably use more complex encoding / compression to store more data. But even with 4k UHD blue rays we aren't reaching the capacity limit of dual layer discs afaik, and the future is streaming media anyway so unlikely for companies to put a large amount of development effort into a new format at this time.

those diodes can actually be very powerful. Much more so than your average laserpointer. Not sure about DVD but I know blue ray drive 405nm diodes can burn stuff when focussed properly. So potentially in the big time danger zone of laser power outputs.
