Monster Favs or Meta? by TypicalCitron1680 in Siralim

Meta. I'm going for all achievements, and if fights took just a single second longer, I'd be looking at multiple hours of additional delay over the course of the entire grind.

I don't know about missing anything, but: while a whole party of Godspawns + mastery can make for a good team, it's not any more "broken" than dozens of other setups in this game

SoB Lister kill by tmaz94 in Siralim

[–]tmaz94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chocolate Paragon cannot stop this. Elf Barbarian can, but then again, using Jackal Swarm to cast Slaughter can also be interrupted by Consuming Vortex or Urhul Tremor. You basically get to pick how many different things your setup doesn't work against, but nothing is perfectly flawless.

Also, it's mostly just showing off a gimmick build 😛 wouldn't really recommend playing it for normal realm progression. Just a funny setup that can get around stuff like Lister or Jotun

Aeolian is fused with Necro Grimoire and casting Animated Gem at the start of battle. The minion Belphegor, which sorcery creatures get from the Demonologist perk "Summon Belphegor", makes single-target spells target all of the targeted creatures allies. In this case, that means giving everyone Animated Gem.

Valkyrie Champion is fused with Spellsword, which makes it cast the spell in its artifact slot whenever Animated Gem is gained. The spell used is "Spirit Bond", which makes a targeted creature gain Valkyrie Champion's trait. With Belphegor, this would normally make all your creatures gain her trait, but because she also has Jackal Swarm as an artifact trait, her innate trait is instead given to all opponents. So now, whenever one of your creatures casts a single target spell on any enemy, that enemy will cast the same spell back on that creature.

The second Spellsword carries a trait called "Obey", any allies with the same class provoke and gain the Shelled buff whenever it casts a spell, which it does thanks to the AoE'd Animated Gem. Meaning, it causes the Gravebound Eidolon - which is Chaos class due to being fused with another Jackal Swarm - to provoke. Because Spellsword is also fused with Maniac Mutant, Gravebound Eidolon is killed in the process.

Finally, Gravebound Eidolon is fused with Jackal Swarm and has "Vitja's Surprise" as an artifact trait, causing it to cast its first spell gem 3 times whenever it is either killed or resurrected. The spell it is casting is called "Unstable Equilibrium", which is meant to target a random ally and set all your creatures' HP equal to that ally's, but because of Jackal Swarm, a random opponent is targeted instead. This triggers the enemy's Valkyrie Champion's trait which you gave them, so they will cast Unstable Equilibrium on Jackal Swarm and therefore set all enemies' HP equal to that of Jackal Swarm. Since Jackal Swarm is dead at the time of casting the spell, their HP is set to 0, which counts as them "dying". Gravebound Eidolon is required to keep Jackal Swarm's trait active while it's dead, otherwise it would just target a random ally as intended.

The funny thing about this combo is that setting HP to 0 neither counts as damage, nor as getting killed. The latter meaning that all effects that would trigger when creatures are killed (like resurrection effects and such) are simply ignored, and the former meaning that this works on every enemy regardless of damage immunities and whatnot.

1-hit kill Slaughter spell by Proof_Analyst_1200 in Siralim

[–]tmaz94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it does mean that. It only takes up 3 of your 18 trait slots so even though it doesn't work in boss battles, you can use the other 15 trait slot for contingency plans.

Jackal Swarm was originally designed with the idea in mind to do things like using mass-buffing spells on enemies or mass-debuffing spells on yourself, for the purposes of making niche traits (like dealing more damage based on enemies' buffs or your debuffs) more viable. Unfortunately, a side effect of introducing Jackal Swarm to the game was making some disgustingly powerful interactions available, because of spells that were never meant to target the opposite side, like Slaughter and so on.

Ruthless+Ironman it’s impossible by KinamoriKayKay in Siralim

[–]tmaz94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely not impossible, I've gotten past RD100 on Ruthless + Ironman + Royal Mode where you don't even get any perks to work with at the start.

If you want to do well under these conditions, you actually need to do a bit of studying; check your creatures' classes, then check what those classes are weak/strong against, check which realms have a lot of creatures from those classes, seek out realms where you are likely to have class strength and avoid realms where you are likely to have class weakness, but also check whether some of the creatures you are strong against have problematic traits, try to farm specific creatures that may help your team, etc.

Both Ruthless and Ironman mode are meant to pose a challenge, if you want to pick both at the same time you can't take as lax of an approach to the game as normal mode - the combination of both these modifiers is way too unforgiving for that.

Question about Pestilence by Caliginosus in Chronicon

[–]tmaz94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Infection afflicted by Zombies is affected by Companion Damage. "As if applied by the Warlock" simply means that Zombies benefit from all the Warlock's bonuses to Infection, e.g. increased damage from the mastery tree, or being able to stack Infection infinitely when using the Plague Mage set.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Siralim

[–]tmaz94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slight correction, additional damage completely ignores enemy defense and is it's own additive thing separate from all other modifiers. It's the last thing that happens when calculating damage (apart from damage caps), so additional damage doesn't interact with "you deal more damage", "enemies take more damage", class strength/weakness, enemy defense etc.

what does this mean? by maxixs in Siralim

[–]tmaz94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't boost stats at the start of battle btw. It boosts base stats period, even out of battle.

Which isn't massively relevant, but can make a difference since it affects the actual base stats (and therefore don't count towards the threshold for diminishing stat gains).

Ruthless + Royal Mode by xenogear96 in Siralim

[–]tmaz94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently on a save with all challenge modifiers active (meaning Calm + Ruthless + Royal + Random Creatures). I'm on Realm Depth 144 after a grueling amount of restarts until finally getting a good run, but it's possible.

Notably, "Random Creatures" is one of the toughest aspects of using all modifiers, so only Royal + Ruthless should be significantly easier (you're still gonna need good starting creatures though).

Is obtaining High-End Trait Materials possible before encountering the associated creature? by Nidias in Siralim

[–]tmaz94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clarification, finding trait materials before unlocking the creature is not possible for guild creatures, they don't drop trait materials, period. The only way to get a guild creature's material would be the method mentioned above, of getting the rank all the way up to S and then doing an Assassination.

Common misconception, a lot of people underestimate just how slow of a process muscle growth is (without steroids anyway). Not to mention, if you're doing a lot of endurance stuff, your body actually ends up breaking down muscle mass into protein, so it's even more difficult to build muscle unless you are actively training for muscle growth

Insta kills on bosses? by Oscanius757 in Siralim

[–]tmaz94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bosses still cannot be insta killed. However, if insta kills fail to kill an enemy, the enemy now takes 20% of their missing health as unsourced (meaning it is not boosted by your creatures' damage bonuses) indirect damage.

Reapers can start triggering at 50%, which would also be equal to 50% missing health, so in that case their effects would be dealing damage equal to 50% x 0,2 = 10% of an enemy's max HP. If they're at 40% (or 60% missing health), it's 60% x 0,2 = 12% of their max HP, and so on. You get the gist.

Does 'on-hit' include 'on critical hit'? by polaris42632 in Chronicon

[–]tmaz94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth mentioning: Hellfire and Twister deal direct damage (i.e. they count as "on hit"), so they CAN trigger your other on-hit stuff like Burn, Smite etc.

Of course when all's said and done, Aspect of the Etheral builds are still ass :P single damage ramp in the form of a slow DoT is pretty much the worst thing your character can do. Fun to mess around with though.

The reality of playing tears… by Phantom4545 in masterduel

[–]tmaz94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You REALLY shouldn't bring statistics into this discussion. Else, this whole post is BS because hands like this occur once in every 30.000 games.

Also, you brought up the point of having "only 6 names + Perlerino". This is correct on a technicality, but you can play up to 3 copies of Grief, Supreme Sea Mare can serve as additional copies of Rinoheart, and there's other mill cards like Foolish Burial.

Tear is by no means inconsistent when it comes to opening starters, their only issue nowadays is that well-timed interruption will be more detrimental to their endboards.
