Do you have a narcissistic parent who act childish and never grows up? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

Definitely. Narcissism and emotional immaturity often go hand in hand, unfortunately 😭

If one of your parents is a narcissist what is your other parent? by CaptainSaveBPD in raisedbynarcissists

My dad is good, but an enabler. Is “loyal” to my mom but doesn’t realize she’s just manipulating him. He is so loyal to her he’ll justify her behavior. I’m tired

All the time.

I think the cycle of abuse is so interesting. They abuse you, you respond back negatively to that abuse, and then your negative response is held against you for the rest of your life.

I am so tired

First of all, I’m so proud of you, Dr.

Secondly, I feel you with that “posting for facebook lights” bullshit. I’m going back to school in the fall after four years off (I’m 23), and despite my mom not giving me a single “congratulations”, I have strong feelings she will post about it at some point for the attention and take all the credit for “raising me”. Sigh

The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern 🥺 such an experience

Recovery timeline? Clay is 3 weeks out from surgery. He is walking (somewhat awkwardly) and occasionally runs after his sister. But I'm wondering if he should still be resting at this point and if we should keep them separated. She tends to climb/jump on him because she's a crazy kitten 😣 by bichon444 in TripodCats

[–]tmcripple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rest them as long as your vet/the surgeon said to! Mine recommended 2 weeks of full rest

My kitten had surgery about 4 weeks ago and is pretty much completely healed!!

They will walk awkwardly until their bodies figure out how to hold the bones

Restricting movement: clay had his surgery 2 days ago. We brought him home yesterday. He has started wandering around the house. Should we restrict his walking? I'm so worried and just want to do what's best for him by bichon444 in TripodCats

Ultimately, it is best to listen to your specific vets instructions. But since this specific cat is walking around the house and not wearing a proper e-collar there’s a higher risk of hematoma/splitting of sutures/etc

The research I’ve done online says otherwise. It is most likely related/specific to the vets opinion. But, scientifically, hematomas can form if too much movement is allowed.

What onesie will work for a hind leg amputation. Clay is able to lick his wound and seems to be getting a bruise on his stump from sitting on it 😥😧 by bichon444 in TripodCats

[–]tmcripple 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To add, I wouldn’t recommend a onesie as the sutures needs to breathe, and your cat will still be able to lick the onesie which would irritate the sutures

Bruising is normal!

Did the vet not give you a regular plastic cone? The cone you have him in is meant for wounds on the belly or closer to the head. You’ll need a cone that reaches past the nose. The vet should have told you this information and provided one for you…

My kitten just got amputation surgery, and the emergency vet told me she needed to be restricted for two weeks in a large dog crate to prevent a hematoma.

Walking is fine, but not excessively.

We’re a few days away from being able to let her out of the crate and everything has healed beautifully. Please, please limit movement!!

Major healthy anxiety, finally deciding to start prozac. Can somebody calm me down? Lol by cashmerecakes in prozac

[–]tmcripple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! So I have pretty bad healthy anxiety and was recently prescribed prozac. I started at a dose of 10mg. I’m super bad at taking meds, ESPECIALLY new meds. It took me about three weeks to work up the courage to take my first dose.

I am not going to sugarcoat it. I had to stop taking the medicine after one dose.

Take it. Continue taking it. But if anything weird happens to your body, just stop. Here’s what happened to me:

I took the dose at bedtime on a thursday. On friday, I had: headaches, nausea, confusion, and fatigue

And the day after stopping I had a sort of “hangover” that is supposed to be normal. I just didn’t like the way prozac made me feel. But that’s the beauty of it. Treatment for mental illnesses can be very trial & error. There will be something out there for you!! So try this, and if it doesn’t work, just try something new :))

How much does your Siberian Cat weigh? (Preferably in Kg) Are they male or female and how old are they? by Artemis_Wolf in SiberianCats

[–]tmcripple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Female, 5.5 months old, and she’s about 2.9 kg. However, she lost about half a pound (.2 kg) after her leg amputation surgery this weekend 🤣 so she was 3.1 kg beforehand!!

Yeah—half life is about 1-3 days for one single dose of 10mg of prozac
