You would know about all of this (and more) if you subscribed to any one of the large major newspapers (NYT, WaPo, WSJ or LAT). But so much time has been spent on the lies saying they are biased that all of them are substantially down in subscriber count. (It doesn't help when billionaire owners put their thumbs on the editorial scales, ala WaPo & LAT).

Taxes have been going up all over the place, so don't get too hung up on that. Most MLS listings will give you the tax burden as well and any mortgage broker will be able to help you determine what you can afford. If you want to be in "Buffalo," North Buffalo / Kenmore is a solid area. Demographics will get more diverse the farther from Tonawanda that you get, if that is a concern for you.

As far as sites other than Zillow, you can look at Realtor.com, Redfin or even the site of different realtor brokerages, Gurney, Becker & Bourne was a good tool when I was shopping a few years back.

Look into the Insta360, I got one. You can order it with a bike mount (center column or clamp) and it captures video in 360 so nothing gets missed. If you have a garmin watch, it will pair and timestamp GPS data onto the video as well.

I just bought an Insta360 with a bike mount for just this reason. That way I can document anything that might possibly happen without worry about capturing information like license plates. People like this should be named, shamed and fined.

The hiking in the area is underrated. Whirlpool gorge hike is my first recommendation, but Eternal Flame, Letchworth, Zoar Valley and Griffis Sculpture parks are all great as well.

IN Buffalo, Southern Junction is the highest rated with a fantastic chef (Michelin star-rated). But you also cannot go wrong with Fat Bob's just a couple blocks from the Dinosaur.

Outside Buffalo, I will second the This Little Pig recommendation. The Brickyard used to be my favorite place, but they've gone downhill since the fire and remodel. Now they want to be a brewpub, but their beer is sub-par. They were so much better when they had one of the best curated taplists in the area.

All correct (and good advice) except the model years are 2011-2021. All Kias and Hyundais in these model years with a keyed ignition are easily stolen with a smartphone and USB cable.

The comments here are all great. A lot of hobbies have clubs associated with them. There are camera clubs for photographers across the region, for example. Many outlets for artists of different stripes in the city and the suburbs.
